730N disable ipod "control" - streaming question

730n RHR with 2.120 software

When using my iphone 4 through the USB cable, I want the 730N to send the basic skip commands not the ipod specific commands. It does this fine with bluetooth streaming, but with the usb it detects the phones ipod capabilities and wants to only send ipod commands.
The reason for this, is I use a streaming service (RDIO) for my music. RDIO uses the generic NEXT and PREV commands to skip tracks etc.
When I'm plugged into USB the next/ prev/ pause etc commands all revert to ipod playback. So if I'm listening to the RDIO and skip, it skips to the next ipod track.
When bluetooth streaming it doesnt do this as the commands sent are the generic ones, but bluetooth just doesnt sound as good.

Any help is appreciated. Looking back on the 730n decision, the 430N would have prob done this as it doesnt have the ipod connect feature
