I just got a 2011 Grand Cherokee Limited with the 730n mavigation system

Does the upgraded navigation system not speak street names?? I just used the gps for the first time and it just said "turn left" instead of "make a left turn onto main street"

I couldn't find the text to speech option. Am i blind, stupid, or a combination of the two. It seems odd that the "better" nav system wouldnt speak street names in turn by turn instructions.

Thanks!

The RHR nav radio usually does speak street names if the name is on the map. As you get to the turn, the final instruction is given without the name.

You should get three announcements. The first happens about .4 miles out and it says "Prepare to turn Right" the second is about .1 mile and it says "Turn right onto 4th Street". The final announcement is "Now turn Right". If you don't have enough distance like if you are in a small neighborhood you may only get one or two announcements, but if you are getting two announcements the first of those should announce the street name. If not get it checked out. This sub forum is full of stories about units that act very strange. There is a whole group of us that get directed to the same place called The Village Inn when we use our Voice activated system.
