730n not loud enough?

The sound system in my '13 overland sounds great and I absolutely love the car so far. However, the sound system volume level doesn't go loud enough. When I have my windows down, I have to have the volume pretty much maxed out just to make it audible. Sitting idle with the windows up, I can turn the volume up to max and feel like it should be able to go much louder. For being such a high powered system, it really feels low on power. My 08 limited with the factory boston acoustics system was WAY louder and sounded just as good. Am I the only one? Has anyone found a way around this?

Doesn't sound right (no pun), might be something you might have to take up with service and see if they can address it for you.

Which sound source? Sat, iPhone, am/fm, hd? or all sources? My volume (12 GC Summit w 730) is fine for everything by the iPhone. The sound needs to be much higher for that source.

Re: 730n not loud enough?

I guess I've noticed it mostly in Sirius and the iPhone. I never have any FM radio I want to turn up loud enough to test!

Maybe it's just some of the sources that have low volume..

Re: 730n not loud enough?

Its rare when I turn it up all the way but when I do its usually with the HDD and depending on the tune can make my ears bleed.

My 730N can make my ears bleed...if you're not getting enough volume, then there's something amiss.

Re: 730n not loud enough?

I notice this with Sirius; much louder on FM.

Re: 730n not loud enough?

Since I fired Sirius I tried Pandora over blue tooth and it is noticeably less volume, and my phone was turned all the way up.

Re: 730n not loud enough?

.Does this system have any kind of equalizer. If so, it could be the volume controls for one or more frequency range is set too low. Even if it's not a fancy graphic equalizer, it probably has volume controls for base, mid range, and treble.

Re: 730n not loud enough?

So, I did some testing on this over the weekend. Playing music directly off the HDD is LOUD, and like it's supposed to be. Same with FM radio.

Playing music from the iPhone or Sirius is where the issue lies. From either of these sources, I can turn the volume all the way up and wish I had more. Kinda pushing me back to using the HDD again. Hopefully this gets fixed in the next firmware update.
