Did the dealer quote you the cost of adding the technology group? I'm really curious if my dealer included it in the price I've been given, or if they've forgotten to add it in and just assumed it comes standard.

They've quoted me $51460 CAD. Best Price I've found so far, and it seems accurrate given the Dealer Invoice I calculated throught the Consumer reports website was $50175. But The CR website didn't have a listing for the Tech group as an option.

Re: 730N Option?

So im confused now, the 430N that I believe is coming in my overland (ordered yesterday with the tech package) does not have the 15pin ipod connector that allows you to charge and use the steering wheel controls to change songs?

I'm really unclear on the difference between the two!!??

We all are, and except for the Nav interfaces, the differences seem difficult to digest.

Re: iPod control, you'll likely have to plug in the USB to iPod cable (basically, the same thing that comes with the iPod for charging and computer connection) in order to play songs off the iPod while charging and controlling it. You can get that cable from Walmart.

Re: 730N Option?

Has anyone ordered the $300 option for the 430N that adds some of the features? As to that Walmart cable...wouldn't you need to just let it dangle from the USB port of the face of the headunit? Not very elegant!

Can you elaborate on that option? What features does it add?

I believe there's a USB port in the center console, at least on some trim levels. The manual makes mention of this location for a USB port on page 318. It should be located somewhere in the vicinity of the armrest (or underneath it). It is also referenced on pages 35 and 41 of the vehicle user guide. The USB port on the face of the head unit is really intended for copying music to the internal hard drive, not for playing music.

It's plenty elegant and it's also out of sight. It also doesn't limit your choices to the iPod- you can also just use a simple USB thumb drive plugged into that port in the armrest.

Re: 730N Option?

Now I can't find that mention of the add on, but I may have been confused about what headunit it was to upgrade. I thought it added the iPod interface into the bin at the bottom of the center stack, plus some other things. Does the 430N already have this cabling???

Re: 730N Option?

There is an add-on to provide Wi-Fi access point via cellular modem. Not sure if this is what you meant.

What $300 option? That is the first I have heard about any options to the 430N. Would this be for Laredo or Limited's like adding Uconnect to them?

The USB ports are stock with the 430N. Probably also the 430. No add-on needed.

If you have the 730N with the iPod cable or go for whatever they call that add on (not sure if it's even available in the 430-series), then the iPod cable will be in the compartment at the bottom of the center stack or in the glovebox (seen a couple references to both places, dunno which is correct).

Re: 730N Option?

Yeah, know about the USB on the face of the headunit, but I was referring to the one at the bottom of the center stack. I think it was Dubwarren that keeps his iPod there, but not sure what unit he has in his Overland.

I've read far too many things at this point, and can't come up with the one about the add-ons for the 430N. I figured before that the additional cost made the 430N cost as much as the 730N, and that the only difference would be then be the Garmin vs the Harmon interface. Eventually I'll find the reference!
