730N - RER upgrade to 730N - RHR

I'm wondering if it would be possible to upgrade from the Harmon 730N to the Garmin 730N when it is released and get the center console USB?

The new RHR radio will have Harmon Nav interface NOT Garmin.

Re: 730N - RER upgrade to 730N - RHR

From what I see listed in the features of all three media centers, the only one with "Lane guidance feature guides you to the correct lane for an approaching turn or exit, making unfamiliar intersections and exits easy to navigate " is the 430N with Garmin software. I do not see that either the 730N RER or the new 730N RHR will have this feature. If you have ever used a Gramin stand alone GPS you can appreciate how important this is. Maybe the Harmon units have it and it is just not listed, I don't know. Maybe someone who has actually used the 730N RER can tell us for sure.

I have Garmin standalone (1450) and concur that Lane Assist is extremely useful

Ahh, I missed that.

So the only Garmin now and the future would be the 430N?

Yes, that seems to be correct.

I'm with you, I have used Garmin for a while now as standalone and really find it great. I'd rather lose non-GPS features than have something else.

Anybody with the 430 garmin system know if you can access the nav features while driving?

I know on my factory toyota nav once you get above about 3mph it turns just about all the nav buttons off.

Thanks.

Nav when you are driving is not available with the 430N. The 730 RER you could use Nav by voice command when driving.

The Garmin stand-alone offers a bypass for that restriction, does the 430N not?

I'll navigate while my SO drives, or vice-versa.

Is it possible using the touch screen to chose a saved destination when driving? Some systems which do not allow you to input a destination while driving will allow you to select a saved setting such as "home" as well as a limited number of other saved locations. Any idea whether this is possible with the 430N?
