Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

I went to the Jeep dealership yesterday. They scanned my car and called the Jeep tech center. The dealer was told that Jeep was aware of the problem and a fix was coming in the next couple of weeks. I was told to call back in the first week of March to schedule the fix. Sounds to me like the fix is written and they are getting ready to distribute it.

Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

Hi all, I was at the Jeep dealership yesterday getting an oil change and discussed for the 10th time about fixing my nav due to the memory issues. They replaced the nav unit once already and that didn't solve anything. I sent a link of this thread to the service manager about the 2.120 update. He called the Jeep tech support or wherever they call and said a disc is being sent to him and I can bring back my jeep when it arrives for the update. If all this is true I sure hope it fixes the memory issue.

Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

If anybody does get an actual "fix" for this problem, PLEASE let us know on here. My Jeep is one week old, and, so far, this is the only problem I've encountered. Minor, but annoying nonetheless.

Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

I just installed the 2.120 update. Update went smoothly and only took about 20 minutes on DVD. I don't store addresses on the navigation system so I have no knowledge of the system loosing the memory settings. However, the update does appear to have solved the name duplication problem when downloading my entire contacts list from the Iphone 4s. Oh yeah...and I now have the weather map option.

I had Sirius Travelink on my Ford F-150. This one appears to be very similar. Someone posted a question about getting it to overlay with navigation. The weather map is separate from the navigation...but it appears to show your position in regards to the weather map but it isn't a detail view. The Ford functioned the same way but the map was clearer.

Now if they could only improve the name recognition. It still has problems with names like McEuen...it thinks it's "mmmmSuin"...LOL! My first cell phone with voice recognition was much better with names than the Uconnect system. Sync was good with names too. But I'm learning to pronounce contact names like Uconnect. I've found that if I have better luck when I rely on Siri....that is if Siri's servers aren't overloaded and I get a response. Siri is a busy girl sometimes :-)

Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

I installed the 2.120 update 3 weeks ago. Before updating to 2.120 I would loose Home Address and all entries in the Address Book within a week. I always used the same Key Fob and never pushed any of its buttons. I also never pushed Memory Buttons 1 or 2 on the driver's door. Since the update, I have not lost any addresses, so it appears 2.120 update may have resolved my lost addresses problem.

Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

I've held off installing v2.120 because, even though I've been in IT all my working life, this is an obvious factory defect and should be covered by Jeep. If I install it and for whatever reason the media center becomes a high-tech brick, there's no rollback procedure and Jeep could say it's the customer's screwup and thus no longer covered.

So I called the dealer we bought our WK2 from, Lansdale, and was told by their assistant service manager that they wouldn't install new firmware unless there was a TSB for it, which there isn't, and he refused to talk with Chrysler. I indicated Jeep had a DVD available and other dealers were installing it, and was told to go to one of these other dealers or to go to Harman Becker and install it myself.

So I did. Bergey's, which we used to use for service on our earlier Grand with good results, is only ten minutes farther and couldn't have been more helpful. The lady service writer there already knew about the new firmware and ordered the "CD" Tuesday. Their media center guru installed v2.120 this afternoon -- it took just over an hour, including tire rotation, and no stored data was lost or changed.

Haven't had a chance yet to try out the 2.120 weather tweaks, much less to be certain whether the disappearing satellite presets/nav home are now stable, but fingers crossed. Hope so, because except for this issue our WK2 has been flawless for nearly 8k miles.

An unintended benefit from this exercise is to be back with a worthy service facility. Bergey's gets the second highest marks in metro Philadelphia from Consumers Checkbook readers (Frank Videon in Newtown Square gets the top rating, but it's mighty far).

If any JG members want info on Consumers Checkbook rankings of official Jeep service facilities in metro Philly, just post what you're looking for (e.g., your Zip code and how far you're willing to drive). If you don't want to post stuff like that, just PM.

Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

Glad you found a decent dealer. When I called my dealer last week for an oil change appointment I mentioned the update. When I went in on Wednesday he had the disc and was more than happy to update my system. I also have to wait and see if my addresses still disappear. The funny thing for the past 2-3 weeks the unit seemed to be holding the memory.

These dealers have to realize that with one screwup, they stand the chance of losing a good customer. Shame on them.

Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

Lingohocken, that stealer Lansdale are clueless. What poor service!

So far my update done a couple weeks ago is holding my home address and contacts and addresses and phone numbers in my default folder file.

Re: 730N RHR Deletes Addresses

I have lost saved addresses several times. These were business addresses that I placed in a folder I created. I thought that was the problem. I have version 2.110. It will be interesting to see if the dealer will correct this with the update. I am assuming this is covered under the warranty and there will be no cost to me.
