Re: 730N RHR does not recognize USB thumb drive

Took a week of perusing the wrangler forum but I found the solution. In order for a FAT32 flash drive to be recognized by the USB port, there mist be at least one mp3 file on the drive. That simple.

Re: 730N RHR does not recognize USB thumb drive

That's correct. Found that out yesterday when I inserted the wrong thumb drive.

Re: 730N RHR does not recognize USB thumb drive

PNY brand thumb drive as formatted out of the box is readable in my Jeep. Best Buy item.

Re: 730N RHR does not recognize USB thumb drive

Just purchased 2011 liberty with 730 rhr media center. It too doesn't reconize usb port. Tried everything suggested in this post. The icon for the usb port is grayed out just like many icons on programs I use on my home computer. I hate to have to go back to dealer. Can't believe I will have to deal with computer problems on a vehicle just like at work and home. What a world! Is there a driver down load or something I'm missing?

Re: 730N RHR does not recognize USB thumb drive

Did you load at least 1 .mp3 file onto the drive??

This seems to be a checkpoint when inserting thumbdrive into the Jeep.

Give it a try! It has helped a few others.

Re: 730N RHR does not recognize USB thumb drive

you are the man! Everything having to do with computers is a wonderment to me. I have to admit your post was the one thing I did not try as I didn't think I had any mp3 files. Well I downloaded one my wifes bon jovi tunes from her itune file (.mp4) to the flash drive. Put flash drive into media center usb port and bang everything worked and was able to load pictures. Thanks again. I don't have to return to dealer and look like a jerk, I just look like a jerk on this forum but no one can see me.

Re: 730N RHR does not recognize USB thumb drive

hey all, sorry I haven't been around for while. I still did not get the issue resolved, even called Chrysler myself and they have opened up a case for this issue.

I'm going to try the MP3 thing, but Chrysler really needs to get this issue fixed so it's easier. will post back.

I have checked and rechecked everything. The pictures are in JPEG format, they are 240 by 158 per the owner’s manual. I have also tried three other brands of flash drive and still nothing.
I have also called Jeep and they have no clue what the issue may be. Next stop is dealership, but has anyone else experienced this issue?
I am having the same problem. Actually it did recognize USB drive the first time when I downloaded music, but now does not recognize that USB drive or any others.
