I just received an email saying that SMS is not a supported feature by the 730N (RHR) radio. I will let you know what I hear back from my reply.
Respond with this image straight from the Jeep 2012 sales literature:

I have a black berry with the 6.0 OS and when I try to set it up on my 430n it says the paired phone is not compatible with this feature. ? What gives?

Re: 730N RHR - SMS Option Missing?

I have a Motorola phone and sms does not work 730 in my Jeep, However it does work , with the same phone in my wifes Dodge with the 430. My conclusion is that SMS is not supported on the 730

I have the 430 as well as a phone that is on the list as supported. Maybe you can tell me how to get this to work. LOL

on the 430, hit the phone button, and say "sms". Then follow the voice prompts

I have used the Droid X in the Lincoln MKS without any problem. It doesn't seem to work on either the 730N in the Overland or the 430N in the Liberty. I will get a notification in the Liberty, but it won't read or allow you to respond. I don't get it.

If it were me, I would drive to the dealer, with the phone, list of compatible phones in hand, and ask them why it doesn't work. At least the 430 has some phones compatible with the feature. Maybe it's an issue with the Media Center, maybe it's an issue with the phone, maybe you'll get lucky and have a competent technician and they will figure it out.

The helpful person from the Jeep Customer Assistance Center recommended I take my 730N to the dealer parts department, to explore what alternatives I have...

Re: 730N RHR - SMS Option Missing?

Anyone running iOS6 beta? iOS6 is going to support BT MAP protocol. Users in the Ford Explorer forum are reporting success with MFT and text messages. I'd love to know if iOS6 works with 730N RHR for text messaging.

I have an Apple Software Developers License and I just thought I'd let folks know that I ran the new Beta version of iOS 6 on my Jeep's RER Mygig with firmware 2.402

Worked perfectly on my iPhone 4s. Even integrated nicely with Siri! No change that I could see from iOS 5

Here's the shocker----with the addition of Siri to the new iPad 3 (implemented in iOS 6)........your iPad3 will connect perfectly with Mygig to send texts and emails.....and respond to queries.

You have to pair the iPad with uconnect through the iPads bluetooth and set a "phone priority"

Thought Apple device users would be interested.......

Re: 730N RHR - SMS Option Missing?

I had thought that the 730N didn't support MAP yet. I remember they were supposed to be coming out with an Update that would support it soon.
