Will it be possible to upgrade the head unit to the new 8.4 uconnect in a 2012 wk2?

Thanks
Mark

Re: 730n/rhr upgrade to 8.4?

I would have to lean towards no since in the 2014's whatever radio yours comes with is all you can use OEM wise, i.e. a standard laredo comes with the factory 5", it cannot be upgraded to the 8.4" down the road, I think your best bet would be to find something aftermarket.

That and the 2014 have a new type of electrical infrastructure so no going from a 730 to the new RAV is not going to happen.

Re: 730n/rhr upgrade to 8.4?

Greetings,

Your best for a large screen is to have the Alpine INE-Z928HD modified to fit the dash or you could go for a tablet that could be integrated into your current system. You will not get to control the A/C, heat, etc, or view the engine read outs due to the new bus system the 2014 JGC has.

Best for now.

Re: 730n/rhr upgrade to 8.4?

I bet you could put the 8.4N from the Journey and LX cars in if you were wiling to put the time in to doing it.

You could get the engine data via the ODB port an an app. A/C, heat may take some work....

Greetings,

That is correct and I completely forgot about.

Checkout one of the following popular apps:

DashCommand - Palmer Performance Engineering, Inc.

Best for now.
