Is there a specific user's manual for the 730N RHR?
The User's Guide which came with the Summit references the 730N RER, and the Owners Manual (on page 284) says:
"Refer to your Uconnect™ Multimedia RHR, RER, RBZ or RHB user’s manual for detailed operating instructions."
This manual was not included at delivery, and I can not find it on Jeep's website under Media Center Radios (730N RER, 430N RBZ, 430 REN, 130 RES, 230 REQ & 830N REU are all listed, but not 730N RHR).
They made the system - there have to be instructions, right?
That brings me to a question....I inserted the user's manual DVD into my RHR...but it won't play (the option to play isn't available)....isn't it supposed to be able to play....and yes, I was in Park.
There is a specific RHR manual, I called to Chrysler and said I did not have any manuals for my RHR and they did send me an entire manual just for the RHR.
You are definitely eligible to receive free publications from Jeep on your new vehicle such as the vehicle owner's manual (1,000 page manual, not the small user's guide that comes with the DVD), the Nav System user's guide, and the warranty booklet. I simply called up the Jeep Info Center and they helped me out with getting that UPS'd to me. Call 800.992.1997 and follow the prompts for new Jeep vehicles.
btw, they do ask you what specific NAV system you have (eg, I specified 730n RHR) and they send you the manual specific to that radio. RHR is the radio's sales code located on the lower right-hand corner of the NAV radio's face plate.
Good luck,

GOod info thanks.. I called and they tried to sell it to me first.. $15 plus $20 shipping! Called the free manual hotline and the reason they don't provide owner manuals is to go paperless.. But that doesn't work so well if its not provided electronically.
When I called, they confirmed that they do not have an RHR manual (physical or .pdf). I explained that I have seen a physical manual (a picture of one, anyway), I just wanted one of my own. They indicated that they are going to a website that does not have the RHR listed - probably the same one on the Jeep site that lists all of the Media Centers except the RHR.
All they could to was to 'escalate' this to another level - I have yet to receive a call back.
This is getting very frustrating - They clearly produce the 730N RHR nav system, but getting manuals on how to use the system seem to be hard to come by .
Some people in earlier posts have been able to get them (Canada only?), and some people are given the answer that they do not exist (when clearly they do).
I am not sure who to go to next - right now I am waiting on a phone call to get a manual on how to use a system that is already on the market.
Not quite what I what I was expecting from Jeep.
HMM I CALLED THAT NUMBER BEFORE AND I WAS TOLD MEDIA CENTER OWNERS MANUAL FOR 730N RER, NOT RHR. but i left my contact info with customer support.
I managed to loose volume control response yesterday ( MY FAULT), and i had to stop on the side of the road and google the procedure to reboot the unit...
if you curious i made the radio index 500gigs of mp3 on external HDD, and when you would press next track in random it would pause and take at least 15 seconds to proceed, when i decided to change to internal HDD it was unresponsive, so i pulled the usb cable out... result no sound, you press volume buttons or turn knob -no bar graph. could switch internal hdd, bt, radio sat, etc but no volume or volume control.
so before going after the fuse i did a chineese drill ( shut down the car, closed it, locked, unlocked, got in, started) and i was back to playing toons having a manual would help my passanger to smack me upside my head so i would stop screwing around...
No problems when I called. I just got of the phone with the Customer Service line and they are sending me all of the manuals that should have come with the Jeep in the first place including the RHR manual and warranty card. I guess it depends on the luck of the draw as far as customer service is concerned.
Once i get my jeep (hopefully tomorrow, it was unloaded from railcar today) I'll run through the 730. Once i get it figured out (i'm a techy guy) i'll put on my go pro helmet cam and do a youtube video. that should help a little as i cant find any info online about this device.
Ooh, you're almost there! Hope your delivery experience was as smooth as mine.
Any additional info about the mysteries of the 730N will be quite welcome. I'm wondering how long until someone finds out how to "jailbreak" it and then we can mod it up to do more goodies
Yeah - but that's a hardware widget interposed between the Nav unit that does stuff like lie about the speed so DVDs will still play, etc.
What I'm talking about is cracking into the operating system of the 730RHR - much like people "jailbreak" phones to get in and modify the operating software.
From what I've heard on this forum, the choices for iPod control are limited (disclaimer - I've yet to do anything with mine other than pair my iPhone and listen to a CD ... I've been too darn busy)
Anyway .. True hackers will want to get in there and "fix" the issues with a little bit of code
I couldn't wait anymore and found a V6 Summit, Mineral Gray with Saddle Interior with 8 miles on it. I love it. The RHR issue is a bit frustrating though. Good luck getting a manual from Chrysler, they don't have it yet. After 2 calls (One to Jeep and one directly to Chrysler Customer Care) I was told to go to www.techauthority.com. It costs $15 there. I called them (Chrysler) back to say that I shouldn't have to be paying for a manual that should have been provided with my new vehicle, and they confrenced me in with tech publications. They only have the RER manual there and no word on when they will receive the RHR manual, NICE! I was then assigned a case number and told to go ahead and order the manual from techauthority.com and they will reimburse me the cost of getting the manual. It takes 4-6 weeks to get your money back.
This is the info I have if you want to go this route:
Chrysler Customer Assistance Line : 1-800-992-1997
(I spoke with Melisa)
Once you get your case number, send your receipt and case number to:
Chrysler Customer Care
P.O. Box 21-8007
Auburn Hills, MI 48321
I later found out that techauthority charges 20 bucks for shipping on a manual that weighs 0.39 lbs!!
Update: I received a message from chrysler today saying I will have the 730n rhr with in two business days.. wed 13th. I will let you guys know when it arrives.
Called the number on this web page http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/quality/.
Selected the number for complaints. Explained my car came without its radio manual. After providing my vin and name/address info i was transferred to publications where i again explained i had no manual for the radio and that there was no info on the chrysler website media center for the 730n rhr. The rep said they would send an rhr manual out UPS to me within 24 hours. No charge. Hope i can resist pushing buttons until it comes...
Finally was able to order the 730N RHR (not RER) manual today. The nice lady actually knew about the RHR for a change....
The phone number for the FREE manual is 1-877-847-7166.
Here is a link about the manual and you can order one for $15 from Tech Authority too...they will charge you though. But if you call the above number you are entitled to one free one.
Thanks Netcoolery! I appreciate the support! I will wait to see what manuals if any come with my Jeep. If I need them, I will call them. I will let you all know what happens with me. I really appreciate the info!
Got my RHR manual today (after having gotten the RER and RHB sent to me by mistake)...all good now.
So, if you wanted printed manuals, this is what you should be getting (not counting the DVD, quick start summary manual, and other misc pages regarding tires, etc. that came with your WK2):
(1) Owner's Manual booklet (11WK741-126-AB Second Edition) + yellow Addendum card regarding sift lever override (11SLS-WK-AAA).
(2) Warranty Information (All Vehicles) booklet (11GENJ-026-AC Third Edition).
(3) Uconnect User's Manual booklet (11UNC-226-AA First Edition).
(4) Media Center 730 N (RHR) User's Manual booklet (11RHR-526-AA First Edition).
Of course, if you have a different media center you'll get a different one for #4 above (or in my case all three manuals!). And of course future additions too. I got my manuals for future resale and good to just have them on file too.
Hope that helps...
