I just installed it as well. Everything seems to be fine. Will play with it when I get some free time.

Re: 8.4 Uconnect Software Update RA4 14.05.03 NA

Could anyone who's done this update answer this question? Could you tell us if nav functions are no longer locked out with this update that were locked out previously while you're driving?

Which functions specifically are you asking about? I'm going to test it in the ride home from work.

Any of the functions that were previously locked out when the vehicle was in motion. Such as entering an address.

Re: 8.4 Uconnect Software Update RA4 14.05.03 NA

I just used Sox file on my 8.4AN and everything seemed to go well. I haven't had it on the road yet so I cannot answer about GPS functions being locked. I don't look for that to get fixed since I understand the first thing it does is check the VIN to see where it was sold before it determines which update files to apply.

When finished everything seems to still be working. It took about 1 or 2 minutes before the Apps showed back up and when I punched the Sirius button my station was playing but it took 20 or 30 seconds for my preset buttons to fill back in but they were all still there. All of the AM and FM presets were there as soon as the unit booted back up . First time in reverse it took 5 seconds or so for the backup camera to come up on the screen but after the first time it was pretty much instantaneous. Door locks and seat presets seem to still be working and the two cell phones were still paired. So far, so good but I don't know if there were any beneficial changes or not. It least it wasn't speaking Russian or German or something.

I did notice in the log file toward the end that it said something to the effect of "no update required" for the Air Card and also for the SiriusXM.

Re: 8.4 Uconnect Software Update RA4 14.05.03 NA

I went out and took it for a short ride. The NAV still will NOT allow you to enter an address while moving. I didn't really expect it would.

Re: 8.4 Uconnect Software Update RA4 14.05.03 NA

I wouldn't expect anything to change as far as navigation lock-out goes. That nanny was built-in purposefully and will probably not be removed.

A couple questions for those who've tried it (I'll probably be updating in the next couple of days):

1) Is the reverse camera jerkiness resolved or at least improved?
2) Is there any way to change the wallpaper now? (I don't expect to, but this is something I would really like as an Overland owner)

What is this update supposed to be fixing? Only issues I've had is the radio randomly jumping from the USB drive to the radio. Removing the USB drive has stopped the issue, but have not ventured into it too far yet.

Short drive today and the reverse camera seems to behave much better than before. I didn't notice any jumping or my case flickering.

I looked thru all the menus to see what was different and didn't notice an option to update the wallpaper, but I wasn't specifically looking for it either.

At the bottom of this page click on wk2jeeps. From the table of contents select recalls and TSBs.

The TSB for the update has a whole list of items it addresses.

The latest TSB for this version of the software is only for Export models. While it lists many several items that could apply to both NA and export, there are some that clearly to not apply to NA (Russian translation issues) There is nothing about what is different (if anything)

there are two items related to the camera:
  • rear camera may show a black screen for 3 seconds upon going to reverse
  • Backup camera active guide lines are missing.

But there seems to be other improvements in that area, mine, i hope, has stopped flickering.

Another issue that I hope is fixed is going from Media to Radio, it always defaults to FM instead of the last used, which for me is Sirius. I will test that later, but this would not be in the export version of the TSB.

We are just early to the upgrade. I am sure there will be a TSB for us NA customers soon.
