A new UConnect Update ? or Part of the Tranny Shift Lever Recall?

I got my Jeep back from the dealership the other day, where I went to get the Transmission Electronic shift recall taken care of. They also updated my radio to a new specification.

Quote:
18R40181 Safety Recall R40 Radio Security Vulnerability
27249 Reprogrammed radio
Software Level (0- Low Skilled)
535 WS4
When I searched this particular radio security, I found the following:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs...5V461-7681.pdf

and

https://www.chrysler.com/universal/w...ce/pdf/R40.pdf

I personally thought I took care of this vulnerability when I downloaded on April 20th, 2016 UCONNECT version 16.13.13 and uploaded it to the car.

Well, whatever they did at the dealership, it still Software Version 16.13.13 but there are different graphics on the screen:

20160918 photo shows:
Quote:
400
Range mi
whereas the 20160930 photo shows
Quote:
322 mi
Range
The position and font of mi miles changed. Other changes include larger font size for the speed setting on the auto cruise control and a new car lowering / car raising graphic. Before, it would spell out "Lowering" or "Raising". now there is an elegant SUV silhouette and an arrow. there might be other changes but that is all that I noticed for now. I am yet to tell what is different with the shifter after the recall.

I believe the recall update changed the center display gauge since mine did the same thing without a uconnect update.

Brian is correct. These changes have nothing to do with the radio, but are part of the auto park recall. I actually like the graphics better now and, despite my initial apprehension, I find the transmission reprogramming to be a non-issue.

You must look at the big picture instead of being a detail man.

Thank you for confirming the dashboard visual styling update. I really have no clue what changed with the transmission, though admittedly my wife drives the car most of the time and I received no feedback.

Other than the graphics, the transmission recall changed the software so that if the vehicle is not in park, the driver is not belted and the brake is not on, it will automatically go into park if the door is opened when the speed is below 1.5 mph. All this is probably because of Ensign Checkov's death.

No. I'm extremely observant but I swear nothing has changed. Maybe they didn't actually do the update. Lol

Maybe not. Check it out by putting the vehicle in neutral, release your seatbelt and open the door while the engine is running. If it doesn't go into Park, they didn't do it.

The icons were the first thing I noticed about the change when I got home since I put it into entry/exit mode as I'm entering the garage.

And slamming it into Park even at 1 - 1.5 mph is supposed to be safe for the transmission? I don't think any of us would do that intentionally...

Not something I would do intentionally, but I would think the transmission is pretty tough to handle off-road stuff. And, I guess doing that to the transmission beats getting run over by the car if you're an idiot.
