Re: Active Noise Canceling on 2015

Speaking of noise cancellation systems, I've been following this very interesting thread over on a GM truck forum about problems they're having with the Bose ANC system on '15 Yukons and Tahoes: 2015 YUKON NOISE IN CABIN - 2015 Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe, GMC Yukon, & Cadillac Escalade - GM-Trucks.com

In summary (if you don't wish to read the now 46 page long thread), it appears that the new ANC system on these vehicles is causing a "buffeting", or increased air pressure, effect inside the cabins of these vehicles that is making some people physically ill. GM has bought back several of the vehicles, but so far they haven't pinpointed a cause or fix for this issue. Some owners are duct-taping cotton balls on the ANC mics of their new $70K+ vehicles just to get some relief from the pressure.

Talk about high pressure tactics in the car sales business!

Cannot, maybe (just a guess) a possibility when they allow the HK stereo as an option on Overland, rumored 1st half of this yr.

Re: Active Noise Canceling on 2015

Looks like you can get it on the Overland if you order the Harman Kardon system.

Re: Active Noise Canceling on 2015

My Acura TLS has ANC and you would never know its there going from the Type S that has it and the non Type S that doesn't. It's probably is doing its job, but any differences would not really be noticeable on a day to day basis. There are simply too many variables to where it would be impossible to tell the difference (IMO anyway). Any new Grand Cherokee is so well insulated and quiet inside anyway that they will all be very quiet. Maybe some testing equipment can measure the difference but I doubt the human ear could :-) Any 2014+ Summit is going to be an extremely quiet driving vehicle.

Re: Active Noise Canceling on 2015

My '15 Summit is the quietest vehicle I've ever been in. It's really luxury car noise levels. Another thing besides the ANC is the acoustic glass. Roll down the front windows and see if it looks like 2 pieces stuck together. My summit windows are ridiculously thick.

I test drove both 2014 and 2015 Summit and Overland before ultimately buying a 2015 Summit 1 month ago.

There is definitely a difference between the two, with the 2015 being quieter with the Active Noise Cancellation and Acoustic Windshield. The 2014 was quiet when i drove it, but the 2015 is, without a doubt, the quietest vehicle I have ever driven.

Re: Active Noise Canceling on 2015

Any of you guys know whether it's possible to adapt a Summit NC module on a 2015 overland? I feel like theoretically you could but would like to know opinions.

It seems to come with the Harmon Kardon stereo option which is available on the Overland.
