adding oem cd player

I know it is an outdated technology and it's easy to put stuff to a flash drive...but does anyone know if you add oem cd player to a 15?

Re: adding oem cd player

Don't forget you lose most of your center console space as well.

I have been wondering the same thing since I rather spend an afternoon installing it and using my hand instead of spending the after on the computer. Below is a link I found where you can buy it but it's a little pricey. I'm sure we can find it cheaper somewhere else.

Re: adding oem cd player

Jacko I'm not seeing the link. And I don't mind loosing the center console. I have plenty of CDs and not putting it all on a sd. I saw that CD player to online, I'm in contact with the service Dept. should have an answer soon. But I'm still going to do more research because sometimes they don't even know they can do it.

I don't understand why you can't get to that link. It's a sticky to the Audio/Visual/Navigation section this thread is in. That thread is a lengthy discussion of removing the CD player, but your situation is also discussed. I believe there are even mentions of folks who removed their player looking for buyers. Adding the player would just be the reverse of removing one, and that is explained at length in that thread. I think it would be a great resource for you.
You might even be able to get part numbers for the player, and more info, by private messaging Milous.

many people on here have taken the CD players out because they wanted the extra console space, so they would have those and the smaller console bin floating around. you could try checking with some of those folks on that thread they may be willing to sell them to you a lot cheaper than the OEM cost. just a thought. Like you I have a lot of CDs floating around and every once in a while there is one that I have not moved to SD that I want to pop in and listen to once so its nice to have. The smaller bin has enough room for a flashlight, stun gun and a tire gauge which is all I ever keep in a console anyway.

No separate button for the CD - it's activated on the touchscreen.

Re: adding oem cd player

From what I've heard, adding one (entertainment module requires flashing), is no prob at all. On the downside, those of us who have uninstalled it to reclaim storage space, cannot flash backwards to remove the CD option from the screen.
