Yes you could totally do that but you would be spending more money and wasting the focal tweeter. I thought I wouldn't like the bright focal tweeters but I like them. Sounds clear and I just turn down the treble to -3 and sounds great!

Occasionally there are a few members here who may have them.

I installed the Polk center channel speaker & it made a HUGE difference! I got mine from a Board member here. Lots of members buy the set & are happy to sell the extra one. Just ask . . .

Aiming the tweeters towards the floor worked for me.

When you aimed them upwards you get bombarded with highs that are brighter than what comes from the sail panel.

I actually just took mine out. To me it was way overpowering. I found myself constantly fading to the rear channel 2-3 clicks to help balance out the sound.

I'm actually ok with the stock Alpine speaker for now. Maybe a speaker with a lower sensitivity would be a better choice. Say mid-low 80's db range.

Re: Alpine 9 speaker system Speaker Only Upgrade results

I'm curious to see what the stock Alpine speakers look like. Does anyone have any photos of them after they took them out? I'm wondering if they are just the typical cheap factory auto speakers or they have a decent size magnet, cone etc. IMHO replacing speakers can be hit or miss.....especially if the speakers being replaced are of good quality.

Most of my music is downloaded from (You Tube) videos to MP3's and I convert them to a wav. file and put them on flash stick. The stock system sounds pretty darn good playing this type of audio format (uncompressed) XM is okay but have to play with EQ to make it sound somewhat decent.

The stock center channel is an all paper cone with a smaller sized magnet. Not even close to the Polk I had in there.
