Can that be a simple setup...just drop in the JL stealthbox with its own amp and call it a day? Any help would really be appreciated.
Hello,

Dropping in the JL stealhbox is a first step to improve the sound quality along with a dedicated amp that matches the new sub's power requirement. However, because the equalization and crossover points are retained in the factory system, the sound that you are looking for might not be present. To correct that if needed, you should look into a processor (OEM integration) such as Audio Control's Epic.

www.crutchfield.com/s_161EPICEPG/The-Epicenter-Plus-by-AudioControl-Gray.html?tp=37274

There are other processor's out their ($ to $$$$), this is just one example.

The other thing to remember is, the sub is tied into the front speakers which IMO as with others, the mid bass is just simply lacking. If you find this is still the case after you install the new sub and breaks in, then, I would change out the 6x9 to a 6 1/2" driver (JL Audio, Focal, etc.) that will still use the factory amp. Depending on the driver, you will get a tighter mid bass punch.

This is easy solution instead of major surgery.

Best for now

You get a JL sub that is a much better sub with the Box.

I am getting ready to redo the entire stereo. Replacing the head unit with an Alpine that has Nav, putting Focal in the front and replacing the factory amp with ARC units. No need for the rear speakers, center channel or rear pillars. They sound bad and replacing all of these for surround audio....why???
Did you get a chance to update your system yet?

I am getting close to start mine. One of the areas that I am concerned with is replacing the HU and the factory amp. Which wire harness system did you go with?

Best for now.

Re: Alpine Premium Factory Audio System

Hi

i tried everything . Started with changing the speakers. Nothing was helping.
I wanna hold the Mygig but changed the Alpine Speakers into Rainbow (german). I unplug the factory amp. and installed some Massive Amps. The radio I converted with a adapter.
The factory woofer is now the place for the Amps. and a P-DSP (Fischer/german) und the woofer is now in the spare-wheel ! Next week everything will be finished und everything will be fine.....
Sorry about my terrible english...

Arto
