I'm suspecting sky's the limit but guessing it will run 2-3k when you replace head unit and rest.
Greetings,

Smart move going after the front stage.

Everybody is waiting for ADS to release iDatalink Maestro for the 2014+ WK2. The problem is dealing with Uconnect system that the main components are built into the OE headunit. If the do accomplish this, I would image that an aftermarket headunit will be around 3k based upon the pricing of the big screen Alpine units that have the ADS connection.

Best for now.

All this offcourse with a proper bandwith channel on xm, bluetooth or cd. I think chanel 53 produces some of the best sound on XM

This whole thing started when I stopped at an audio specialty store looking for a permanent solution(removing head unit, but keeping fuctionality) the guy there recomended to chop the high of the center or cut all together.

So I installed my Polk (again) but now with the tweeter disabled. Overall the sound is better, but I feel like the door tweeters are cut off so high that they are missing some frequencies. Maybe some silk domes would help level out the front sound stage?

Does anyone know if there are resistors on the stock Alpine door tweeters? Or is the amp controlling them completely?

Greetings,

The factory DSP/Amp is controlling the frequency hi-level cutoff points for the tweeters. New speakers will improve the clarity, but because it is at the factory setting, the potential of the dynamic range will not be met. Eq settings might help, but remember an eq has nothing to with the complete functions of a crossover.

If you are satisfied with the rest of your improvements, then the next logical step to improve the front stage is add a 4 channel DSP/Amp that you take the signals, sum them to remove the factory settings and run it thru the new DSP in order to tailor it to your liking. Their a many DSP/amp combo in and entering the market at various price points.

Best for now.
