This also explains why we're not getting a newer rom, he doesn't seem to be an android chef.
Why I believe this is due to the following.
So I'll assume the 4 second touch is handled by the PCB/daughterboard and when it gets the 4 second input, it knows to switch displays by hijacking the feed.
The 90 degree turn could easily be achieved if he baked the rom himself, instead it's being handled by an app.
So once again, assuming the PCB/daughterboard handles the switching of the displays and It's only an app that rotates the android display 90 degrees which can easily be extracted and sideloaded onto any android device. I'm inclined to believe we'd be able to replace/upgrade the android box system whenever we required.
This makes the system a whole lot more worthwhile to me as It means it's open to being upgraded, you just need to find an android box with the same inputs and outputs (LVDS, touch input & gps etc) which there seems to be multiple on alibaba.
It'd be lovely if we could only buy his custom PCB/daughterboard
Don't think too much
.. it's nice to think of adding more power to the android box .. but don't forget the limitations of the whole setup (bad touch screen). Another thing to consider is the uses of the system as an infotainment car system, what they are offering right now is more than enough.
