Another RA2 to RA4AN upgrade thread

Today I successfully installed a RA4AN in my 2014 Laredo E with stock RA2.

Pictures or it didn't happen:

I had to try a bottom switch transplant. My OEM bezel have the ECO ON on the left side and TRACTION CONTROL on the right. The new bezel has PARKING ASSIST, ECO ON, and TRACTION CONTROL.

Re: Another RA2 to RA4AN upgrade thread

I'm very interested in doing this to mine, simply because my head unit is giving me distortion in the audio and it would be awesome to get around that.

How much did the RA4AN and extra parts cost you? Any chance of part numbers?

Sorry, just excited to see someone who's made the change.

Re: Another RA2 to RA4AN upgrade thread

well, does it work? Just because the unit was physically installed, doesn't mean that all functions and features work because you may not have the underlying hardware. Does your GPS work? Do you have a GPS antenna? What car features can you control with the new radio? E.g. Climate ?

please Don't take my questions the wrong way? I too have postponed 2 retrofits on the Jeep due to complexity and underestimated budget (active cruise control with stop - mine is the earlier version without stop; and front parking sensors). I just don't think it is mere plug and play for the radios, not from an RA2 to the RA4 at least. Going between somewhat equally capable versions is feasible, as is replacing one ABS control module with another as long as you have all wiring and sensors already in place.

Re: Another RA2 to RA4AN upgrade thread

Does that work on a regular Laredo WITHOUT the E package? I ask because you can option those radios on the Laredo E but not the base model so I wonder if the harnesses are the same?

Re: Another RA2 to RA4AN upgrade thread

F1anatic yes everything works!!! Even the navigation turn by turn on EVIC works. All climate control works and heated seats and steering wheel. This is the first time I have ever heard HD radio on any vehicle, and I'm impressed. I think the HD radio sounds even better than the aux port.

Only 2 minor issues right now:
The ECO ON and traction control LEDs aren't turning on. But I can see in the EVIC the traction control turns orange when I press. I can't say anything about the Eco mode because it doesn't show. It has to be something about the 8.4 bezel had parking assist button where the Eco on was on my original dash. So I'll try another approach tomorrow.

The other thing is, I'm having trouble to register uconnect. Anyways I wasn't going to subscribe. I just wanted to see how far it would go.

I can see the 3G bars on uconnect button do change accordingly, it gets lower if I'm inside a garage building.
I'm not concerned at all with the uconnect situation, like I said I won't subscribe anyways.

Idk if all Laredo have a shark fin. I know my does. I know I have a red antenna plug that wasn't connected to my RA2. I believe that was the GPS antenna.

Again, everything on the radio's side is working, except the uconnect login.

Re: Another RA2 to RA4AN upgrade thread

Do you happen to have a parts numbers list and costs? I don't get why they say it cant be done if it can, I can see them just saying that to scare people into upgrading from the factory but they are screwing the dealers out of the money people would spend upgrading after the sale.

The jury is still out as to whether anyone will run into any issues. There are a lot of different scenarios that could come into play, such as different options on different vehicles and the fact that at this time there are 5 different part numbers for the WK RA4 radios, with some having multiple revision levels. The MSRP on the RA4 is $2,000.00.

Uhh. Okay nevermind then.

Aftermarket head units need to be figured out asap, cause that's ridiculous.

That's where I got it from. The seller has done in over 10 cars. Including to dealers.
