any reason not to buy a 430 rbz radio from a 2012 JGC?

I am getting a radio that was a new take out from a 2012 JGC. I am gonna put it in a 2012 JGC that has a RES radio.

Any issues I should look out for?

Zero prob with my RBZ. Didn't want/need a nav embedded unit being that I use Google mobile nav. Been quite happy with it.

You may have to have the dealer reset the security code, I dunno for sure, but I think its the only issue to look out for. That was a change made for 2012.

Re: any reason not to buy a 430 rbz radio from a 2012 JGC?

Does your GC have the U-Connect option with the self-dimming mirror w/microphone built-in and steering wheel controls? If so, install should be straight-forward. If not, some functions may not work. There are some good forum posts on doing this swap. You might try a forum search.

And, yes, you likely have to take a trip to your dealer to have the 2012 radio flashed to your GC using the Chrysler scan-tool. This is an anti-theft measure starting with 2012 models.

Re: any reason not to buy a 430 rbz radio from a 2012 JGC?

When the RBZ are a 2012 unit with the antitheft code its not necesary to go to the dealer for the starscan, you need only the code ( 4 letters) if you this nod have you can send a mail to your dealer with the PN number and the Serialnumber from the RBZ and he can look in the system for the code.

If you have a factory uconnect the you must activatet this new with your RBZ.......mabe this can only the dealer with the witec.

Re: any reason not to buy a 430 rbz radio from a 2012 JGC?

Thanks guys. Jeep it's going in is a 2012 and it came from a 2012. I have u connect so I would need that to work.

That was more or less where my question was going. I read somewhere about the security code, so I will see if I can get the code etc....

What code are you referring to? Uconnect has to be reactivated? Isn't just a plug and play option?

I have to put the security code in and spoke to the dealer about it. They want to use the scan tool but it's $120 for the flash or what ever they do. At this time, I have no choice but I;d like to see if I can do this cheaper.

Since I know the old owner and have all the info, this shouldn't be that hard.

Re: any reason not to buy a 430 rbz radio from a 2012 JGC?

Well,

got the radio, installed it and it needed the code. Had the dealer take care of the code and everything is great EXCEPT the bluetooth phone volume. It was better on the RES radio. At volume ssetting 10, it is silent and all the way up it's not loud at all.

Anybody dealt with this?

I will have to find the paperwork where I wrote it down. I did need to bring it to the dealer to get the radio flashed to work in my 12.

I will say I am not impressed with the u connect on this. The res 130 was better then with the rbz.

Strange. If I go over 15 on my RBZ, it hurt my ear holes. Have another phone with BT you can test out?
