Re: Anyone pulled the HDD out of their 430N? Willing to copy some files for me?

That's kinda what I've heard, the 730N is a little more feature rich (VR on the nav & traffic updates), but it sounds like there's lots of little headaches on that model they don't have ironed out yet. This was an earlier build and came with the 430N from the factory, even had a 300 dollar discount for the 430 vs 730 on the sticker. Probably were out of stock as the 730 was being updated to a newer model (RER vs RHR I think)

Overall I really like the Garmin nav on it and all the bluetooth streaming and iPod support work great after the uConnect update and the Travel-Link update. My biggest pet peeve is how the in-motion detection works, won't let you continue where you're at if you slow back down again! PITA.

On my 430, if you are in the middle of inputting info, and then speed up to where it locks you out of the system, as long as I dont acknowledge the screen prompt, I can continue where I left off as soon as i slow down.

Re: Anyone pulled the HDD out of their 430N? Willing to copy some files for me?

Any progress on this? I have a 430N in my 2012 wrangler and would be interested in dumping it as well but I would assume it has a same/similar password.

Has anyone tried using MHDD to dump the firmware area of the drive to find a password?

MHDD doesn't dump firmware (according to its author), and it can't do anything to a password-protected drive without the password.

According to the article here hxxp://hackaday.com/tag/mhdd/ (granted this is for a WD drive) you can issue ata commands the allow access to dump the firmware area where the password is stored. The trick would be figuring out the area to dump for this drive.
