IMO if it isn't happening everywhere then it is probably something in the immediate area causing a signal block.
Thanks. I value your opinion as you are in this area. I notice that the fall out is more extensive in the AM than PM as I occasionally drive my wife to and from her work at the medical college. I did not have this problem in the spring and summer so I think it may have to do with atmospheric conditions too.

Re: Are you in the NE US?

The worst dropout I experience is in my garage. It goes out and stays out. Happens with both vehicles. Yet, the XM Minituner attached to my home receiver works all the time and it is in the northermost part of the house. Go figure.

Sirius and XM use different satellites in different orbits.

Re: Are you in the NE US?

Our Malibu also uses XM and does the same thing in the garage. Fortunately, we don't care about listening while in the garage. The ideal facing for either system is southwest and like sat TV, reception is subject to weather and other atmospheric conditions.

Ah, southwest direction. That is good to know, and makes sense. Thanks.

77Cherokee is right on. It is a matter of line-of-sight. If you're too close to a building or structure that will block a digital signal, the signal won't "bounce" to you as easily as AM or FM signals. The signal doesn't exactly come straight down.

I live in WV where the last problem we have are urban structures (and we like it that way, lol), but yet it never fails that when I go through the same McDonald's drive-thru every morning I lose signal EVERY TIME while waiting to be handed my coffee. I know it is because I'm right up on the wall of the building AND that wall happens to be blocking the southwest.

Hope that helps it make sense.

Re: Are you in the NE US?

It *may* be worth your while to call SiruisXM, follow the automated response system, and request a "radio refresh".

The area I travel mostly in is wide open. No tree covering, no high power wires etc... A week or two ago, I was having terrible signal drops. Performed a refresh and it's perfect now.

Thanks. The SIRIUS lady "refreshed" me. I would say it is now about 20% better in town. Absolutely no problems as soon as I leave the city. Must be that the rain eroded some of the new top soil at the old nuclear lab.
12/21 All is well today. Very odd, but good. Thanks, "Ratchet", for the suggestion.

Did we loose a satellite in the NE and can only pick up one on the horizon? Is it a seasonal issue? Comments? Thanks.

Haven't had the vehicle long enough to say seasonal, etc.. However, I Drive in Metheun, Andover, No, Sothern NH, Plaistow, Pelham, Salem, Nashua a lot and I'm really dissapointed at how much I loose reception.

It's annoyed my to the point, I've gone home gotten into the Buick or Cadi and within 30 minutes driven by the same spot and didn't loose my Sat.

I'm tying to nail down patterns and I can't other than to say, reception is less than desirable on the GCO/WK2

Try Ratchet's suggestion. Nice human lady at SIRIUS answered the help extension on 3rd ring. She gave me instructions and waited for me to get ready and she did the refresh.
