arm rest usb

does anyone have any experience with replacing the usb in the arm rest. i just got a kenwood ddx470 dd and looking to run a usb extension cable in back of the hu all the way to the arm rest port. is this possible im the type that i dont like wires hanging around.

Hmmmm the first idea that pops into my head is to cut the cable going from the uconnect module to the usb in the arm rest. Then splicing in a USB connector into the wire you just cut. Then plugging that into the cable coming out from the headunit. Does that make sense?

I don't know that I'd want to get involved with "splicing" USB cables...

I was thinking more of pulling out the USB port and sticking another one in thinking something like white cable vs the black one. Just running a longer USB cable.

Take care that the total length of cabling from the head unit to the port is less than four meters. There's a hard limit of five meters for the end-to-end cable, and you'll want to allow a meter for the iPod cable that connects to the arm rest jack.
