Re: Audio Overhaul Advice for MY2011 WK2
Barlo, IME the first two priorities are more power as the stock amp is diluted/bridged across too many secondary speakers, and then replacing the cheap plastic sub enclosure. Note you'll need to use a line out converter to keep the stock amp in place so the head unit functions are maintained. Otherwise, if you have the Overland, the Alpine components themselves are pretty decent quality.
Here's a few of the better threads, there's others in this subforum.
My aftermarket efforts with custom sub enclosure and more power:
Do Not Try This at Home
Jorde's Stealthbox and line out converter:
Updated New Pictures! Stealthbox/Audio Control Installed thus far
Paranormal's custom sub enclosures and new amps/speakers:
Custom sound install complete PICS
docluv seemed to have success by surrounding the stock sub enclosure with dynomat or something similar which cut down on the distortions:
Factory sub Replacement...FINALLY
There was another JG member who did a really nifty dual amp install in the cubbies to the fore of the spare tire compartment, just can't find it.
