audio question

I bought a base 2011 Laredo without audio package (no sub in back). Can anyone recommend a good subwoofer to either put in back or under seat. Ive seen JBL stealthboxes but way too expensive for my blood.

Hello,

You can try this from Boss Audio Systems:

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=265-360

The reviews are pretty good. Just remember it will not have that low bass quality that the JL Audio stealthbox or any other bass system.

Another choice is from Infinity:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_108BASS...nk.html?tp=114

I had this in my Maxima and Pathfinder. I would recommend this.

However, I am saving up my $$$$ and either getting the stealhbox or a custom enclosure for the Boston Acoustics's SPG-555 Subwoofer

Best for now.

Re: audio question

Thanks. Im slowly realizing I'm now regretting getting the upgraded sound package. Spending about as much money using aftermarket as I would have just getting the package. Hindsight is 20/20

Hi,

I would look it this way, if you are keeping your JGC for a number of years, you now have the opportunity to create a true premium sound system. As you read thru-out the threads, many of us have found the bass is really lacking in the Alpine system along with other complaints. Therefore, if you carefully shop for example, Crutchfield, you can find some bargains and they have recommended install shops.

Since, the JGC is a great 4x4 on long highway trips, a great sound system makes the trip even more memorable. Why, you do not get listener fatigue from nice speakers and clean low bass.

In conclusion, from one Mets fan to another Mets fan, You Got To Believe.

Best for Now.

Re: audio question

^Agree with 1stJeep, IME you have a better start from your setup than the premium Alpine system.

Check out some of the upgrades in this subforum, even with the Alpine group the sub enclosure needs replacement and more power is beneficial. As stated above, these improvements are for clean, crisp sound and bass, not dubstep ground pounding.

Re: audio question

Thanks for all your suggestions, I have replaced the deck unit with a Pioneer DVD/bluetooth/etc unit, replaced the speakers with Alpine and JL. Now all I need is a sub but I'm discovering that compact powered subs (most used in trucks) cant really fit under the seats. If I were to put something small like a compact powered sub in the cubbyhole like area where the factory sub would be (passenger rear cargo area), does anyone know if there are any issues I might run into with installing it here? Best solution I can think of without sacrificing cargo area space.

Re: audio question

Shouldnt' be any issues. You may want to get a free air sub if there isn't going to be a box. I would still look at the stealth boxes if I were doing it. Although, I like good strong bass....it makes every song sound better
