Back up camera for 2015 GC Altitude?

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forums, and new to owning jeeps and have some questions. My first Jeep, 2015 JGC Altitude, is amazing and I love it so far. I actually purchased it used and the previous owner did not opt for the back up camera, navigation or the 9 speaker surround sound. I know I cannot get the surround sound and the navigation isn't that big of a deal to me, but I would like a back up camera.

I think I have the 8.4 radio, because this thing is huge in my Jeep lol. What would i need in order to have the back up camera installed? Can I do it myself? I called a local jeep dealer before I purchased mine and they said they would do an install for $650 which seems kinda pricey.

Thanks in advance everyone!
-Bill

Here is a link to a "how-to" video:

DIY: 2014 WK2 OEM Backup Camera Install (plenty of photos and Video)

This is a link to my backup installed by the dealership. I purchased the OEM back-up camera and my dealership installed it. I was the first one to have it installed and they gave me one hell of a deal to be the first. Anyone after me is going to feel the price pain for sure.

Was your dealership cost for both the OEM camera and install?

Thanks for the links, i will review those now. Yes, the dealership cost was for install and parts. With that being the case, for $650, should I save myself the hassle and just have them do it all?

Depends how savvy you are with wiring up a vehicle. It took the dealership about 4-5 hours to complete the install. The OEM camera costs just around $300+ mark and then add another $50/hr for labor. Your nearly at the cost they quoted you. Maybe try to ask if they can do it for $550 out the door or something and try to squeeze them.

Good luck.
