Backup Cam - tie into backup light?

I think my project on my 2012 GC Laredo wil be a backup cam. I have a 3rd party radio and may try a wireless solution... But I will still need to tie into the rear backup lights for power, which I have no idea how to do.

Does anyone have links for instructions on how to do this?

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Backup Cam - tie into backup light?

When installing a wired camera system, the camera gets its power from the positive lead on the reverse light. This then powers the camera and then the monitor comes on. It should be pretty similar for a wireless system.

One thing to consider doing is powering the camera independent of the reverse light and instead use a 12v switch to turn it on and off. I did this in my Yukon so I could see what was happening back there whenever I wanted to.

in going to try to do a wireless transmitter/receiver between the cam and head unit (mostly because I REALLY don't want to run wires the length of the GC). In doing that option, I wouldn't be able to do a switch.
