Backup Camera Surprise!

Today for the first time I hooked up my boat trailer to my new Limited. I wondered if I would have to turn the camera off because of too much warning beeping etc. Surprise, with the ball mount installed it "lightly" beeps and extends a track line off the ball mount too, and I was able to put the ball under the trailer coupler on the second try!! I was astonished; after 40 plus years of doing it the old fashioned way. The "light beeping" changes to a steady "tone" when the ball is under the coupler. One more reason I am enjoying this new vehicle. Dave

Re: Backup Camera Surprise!

If you've got the Quadralift air suspension you can actually hook it up!!
We use it regularly on our 2012 - but it doesn't have the sensors so we don't get the beeping - ours has just the black line that is there even without the hitch.
Makes it a one person job to connect up - still a manual job to plug the trailer electrics in though.

Re: Backup Camera Surprise!

Yea, I love the camera for when I hook up my trailers. I nailed it first try the other night when I was attaching the horse trailer in preparation for a morning haul to the horse park. When the chrome ball disappears under the black hitch...it's "there". I leave the "beeping" on while attaching, but then turn off that feature so it doesn't get angry with me when I'm backing the trailer up.

Interestingly, I find it easier at night for this process and decided yesterday that I'm going to paint a small white stripe on the centerline of the Bulldog hitch on my trailer to help with visual assist during the day.
