Re: Best equalizer settings?

I have a 2012 overland. I have no idea what the system is but I keep the bass at +2 and mid and treble flat when listening to Sirius radio. I listen to a lot of 50's music which needs a little bass. Back then the recordings sucked... I have to turn the bass down when listening to the HD or FM...

Re: Best equalizer settings?

Whatever mine is set to, when the truck starts even though it displays my settings, it still sounds flat at 0. If I change just one setting it seems to reactivate the eq... Anyone else notice something like this? Also my whole radio is being replaced for other reasons after 2 months in case management...

Yes mine does this every time I shut the car and turn it back on! So annoying is there a fix for it? Every time I get in the car I have to tap the eq down then up to get rid of the flatness.

Re: Best equalizer settings?

These replies seem odd to me. My May 13 build, '14 Overland sounds lean in the bass with an upper mid-range peak that seems to be there no matter how I set the EQ.

The fact that some of you find the bass boomy, makes me wonder about variances in what was installed in the factory or poor QC.

Home audio has been a hobby of mine for about 40 years. I find the most acceptable settings in my Jeep is flat with the balance faded slightly to the rear.

Re: Best equalizer settings?

just got a '15 summit with hk and the bass was boomy so kept it down -5 or so, but, and it could be placebo, i swear just upgrading the uconnect software to latest has improved things, but maybe i'm dreaming.

Yeah, I wish you could store the equalizer settings with each station or source as a feature.

XM talk, give up, it will never sound good anyway.

XM pop often has too much midrange and treble boost anyway, with some jazz and soul having too much artificial bass boom...

XM classical.. bwaahaaaahaaaahaaa

Some FM stations are listenable, but again except for purist classical stations most are overcompressed, over-EQ'd, and boomy, tinny, or like a Cerwin Vega, both.

MP3s of much higher quality sources like CD are reasonably listenable, for a mid-fi [at best] audio system. It ain't M&K by any means... nor is it Telarc worthy.

OMG....

I tried mine at +3 and it sounded soooo bad. You must really like some serious bass.

Mine are pretty well the same as Antsjeep . Not a big bass guy.

My last SUV had a Marl Levinson sound system and always impressed me. Never boomy never thin. It's probably the only thing i miss about that truck.

That and the reliability.

Re: Best equalizer settings?

Okay, so I have been having the same problem with the equalizer as well damn near every time I started the car. So yesterday I was on my SD card and switched over to fm radio (it was commercials) then back to SD card. To my surprise, I went to my equalizer to "bump" one of the setting to fix the normal issue and no change. I tested this several times and it looks like if you switch over to FM and back to media you don't have to "bump" the settings in the equalizer. Can a few of you guys confirm this?

Re: Best equalizer settings?

I have the same system in my 14 Overland. I raised all the settings to the top as I listen to a lot of talk radio.

Greetings,

Mark Levinson is another division of Harman which focuses on audiophile quality. It way above the standard HK systems that car manufactures seam to label as a premium system.

Best for now.
