Re: Best equalizer settings?

This caught my eye because I am a theatrical sound designer and just happen to own a 2014 JGC Limited.

I generally leave the EQ flat. The engineers responsible for the sound system balanced it so that should satisfy the majority of people. Having said that, I do hear considerable differences between all of the source options and channels on satellite. This is a combination of signal path differences, processing used and preferences of the people providing those sources. There are correct settings for a "flat" average response in the car. Sometime, I will do a precise measurement at the driver position with the equipment I have (AFMG EASERA) and share the results. I tune sound systems for a living. Until then, since the sources are all so different, I would treat it like your meal. Salt and pepper to taste.

Re: Best equalizer settings?

That last point exactly, sound is personal, tune it to what you like for what you listen to.

Otherwise my advice is to stick a brick through the sound system, then rip it out and set it on fire. There is no helping this sticking boomy crap, in my opinion.

Here are mine, and I have surround turned off. Still sounds like boomy junk.

Re: Best equalizer settings?

I have the base sound system and it has a 3 band EQ. IDK if the high end (i think is the Alpine) has a better EQ with more bands.

So on my rig, when the EQ is flat, the bass is too loud and has no clarity. My EQ line(if i can remember) is somewhere at Bass -5 or -6 | Mids -3 or -4 | High +5 or +6. And I ofter change the curve, depending on source/genre/MP3 quality.

Greetings,

Best advice and best option.

OP, their is 2 problems with system; first the headunit is just average for sound quality and the second, the ALPINE DSP settings are just basic for the general users and you can not change those settings.

Unfortunately, for those you have the 2014+ Uconnect HU that is intergratged with the functions of the GC, at the present time, you can not change out to an aftermarket. The 2nd problem is correctable, however, you have to spend money on it.

You think since the early reviews by the press back in the summer of 2010 regarding the Alpine system, improvements would have been made by now?

Best for now.

Re: Best equalizer settings?

Forget about the mids, the bass man, my god the bass. This is the first system where I have made it a negative setting because it is so uncontrolled and boomy.
As long as you enjoy it, that is all that matters.

I'm not getting in your car with you though.

Re: Best equalizer settings?

-4 bass
0 midrange
+2 treble

Perfect IMHO for all sources with the standard 6 speaker system.
