Just wondering what others with the Harmon Kardon system are using for their equalizer settings?

I had the settings to my liking, then did my 1st software update and realized the equalizer had defaulted back to zeros afterward. Unfortunately, I did not make a note of what they were beforehand....won't make that mistake again!

Depends on the genre. I'm a rocker so 6,3, 6 is just right.

Equalizer settings are subject to personal taste. You just adjust until YOU like the sound. Don't go by what others might say, you may not like the sound. So just play around until you are satisfied, shouldn't take that long to do. GL

you have bass at +5?

i've now had my jgc summit for nearly 3 months and i'm annoyed at the subwoofer output which seems pretty unaffected by equalizer settings. i can have the bass set at the BOTTOM and still get BOOMING bass from even 'mainstream' music. what's the deal here?

Since the radio update behind the amp issues ive had mines zeroed out all across.. I got my system prior -2 0 +3 and when i got it back after the update those settings where horrible.. The speakers definitely hold base so if thats what you like go for it.. 2015 summit

Ok so when i got my car in sept the rear left door panel sub was blown.. Obviously i didnt notice it until after i left virginia ( group buy thanks to this forum) so i didnt notice on what frequency and i say that now bc i found out later after the speaker had been already replaced that it wasnt the speaker it was an incorrect level in the digital amp.. So when i went to bring my jeep in to replace the speaker again there was an amp update to tune the amp.. Problem solved.. Whats funny is i told em them speaker only sounds bad it certain keys not all of them but they just gave me my assurance that it was just blown.. Wrong they were..

To be honest i cant really say.. Don't know if it was programmed on not.. I know it wasn't replaced just don't know how they updated it.. Radio needed to be updated and according to my sheet so did the amp to stop popping sound in rear door speaker

revisiting this, i'm still REALLY unhappy with the boomy subwoofer when playing even purchased mp3's from sd card. we're not talking bassy music either, stuff like coldplay even plays with ridiculously overpowering bass. lowering the bass in the 3 range eq (even all the way down) makes almost no difference in the sub range. system is fine with xm though...
someone mentioned the subwoofer is bad, but not clear how a better subwoofer would help or whether it's even feasible to change out the factory one.

how about emailing me a file that plays like pooh and I'll see how it sounds on mine...I have good ear and can troubleshoot diffs between your system and mine...I will pm my email now...

GoPlzGo thanks for listening to the track. i'll have to send you something more light like a carpenters track :p i also tested and also has very over the top sub at 0-0-0.

i think i know what's going on. with only 3 bands (really lame) in the eq, and likely a typical parametric setup so each band tapers off quickly either side of its frequency setting as far as its 'effect' (attenuation/boosting), i bet the left most eq frequency is probably 500hz or something and so even at rock bottom setting, it still doesn't cut out hardly any of the sub impact, which is probably 80hz or less. do i notice SOME SOUND being removed when the left eq band is set down? sure, but it seems to have little to no effect on the sub. do i have tracks where it's not an issue? sure (typically very old music) because they have no low bass. with so much of modern music listened to with headphones, i wouldn't be surprised if the bass is boosted so much on it anyway when mixed down, but the issue i believe is that the HK sub really cannot be attenuated at all. if it had 6 or 8 bands in the eq, it might be ok, or even better, the ability to set the frequency cut off the sub. i'll probably end up going to an audio shop to see if they can do something.
