Best sd card for my new 2015 Summit?

I've been looking through all the reviews on Amazon for SD cards and I'm confused about which one I should buy. I want to download my music files from my PC to the card for playback in my new 2015 Summit. What card seems to work the best in the Uconnect system? All of the reviews I've read are about the cards performance in cameras.

Re: Best sd card for my new 2015 Summit?

Season Greetings,

It is the same principle as a camera.

Instead the key you are looking for is the read speed. This way the Uconnect system can read the data as fast as possible without having to wait to the information is load. This is important when you have large amount of data on the card.

The faster the write speed means that your computer will download the material onto the card quickly instead of waiting a long time.

Mind you, I do not have a Uconnect system, so I do not know how the information is read into the system. For example: if a table of contents is displayed such as a drop down folder or something similar to that.

Scandisk is the most popular and then Lexcor is right up their.

Best for now.

Re: Best sd card for my new 2015 Summit?

Having a super fast card makes next to no difference with the Uconnect system. It is most helpful when you are writing the data to the card. I use this 64GB Sony SD XC card as it was the fastest available without being the crazy expensive Sandisk ones.

I have a super cheap smaller capacity one, and it loads the music just as fast onto Uconnect, but of course it takes a million times linger to put the data on in the first place.

I agree with the above dont waste money on those super fast and super expensive camera sd cards you wont see a difference in the uconnect system. I have super fast cards and i dont waste them in the uconnect. I use a basic sandisk 64 gb in the uconnect and it works just fine.

I'm really satisfied with the Kingston SDX10V/128 GB, it's a Class 10, 30MB/sec card I loaded with more than 10K tracks.

Very fast scan, but the very first time I plugged the card into the slot. The first read took 20 minutes.

Amazon.com: PNY Elite Performance 128GB High Speed SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Up to 90MB/sec Flash Card - P-SDX128U1H-GE: Computers & Accessories

I bought the 128 GB-version, formatted it to FAT32 and put about 8,300 songs with a capacity of 76 GB on it. Since I haven't finished transforming my entire CD-collection yet, I'll certainly try to put more on the card.

But so far, everything works great!

Interesting - I was always curious if >9,999 tracks would work - well, it obviously does.

The PNY ones are good, the 64GB is excellent value at the moment at $23.99 - Amazon.com: PNY Elite Performance 64GB High Speed SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Up to 90MB/sec Flash Card - P-SDX64U1H-GE: Computers & Accessories

SanDisk or Samsung

DO NOT BUY PNY!
I bought a 32GB card and the card controller is junk. Of course I can't find the original receipt and PNY won't stand behind their product without it. Gee, I think the numbers on the card would tell them exactly which production lot/run it came from and how old the card is (less than 1 year when I started having issues), but they wouldn't warranty the card.

So now I tell any/everyone that you should NOT buy PNY cards/flash drives.

I don't think much gets warranty without a receipt these days...

Re: Best sd card for my new 2015 Summit?

I don't care what the brand is, no receipt, no warranty claim. Without proof that you are the originally purchaser, a receipt actually doesn't "prove" this but you get the point, then there is no way on hell you get coverage.

There are a lot of negative reviews on Amazon, but that does go for basically every brand.
I know of a lot of people that have had great success with them.
