When dealing with a factory installed head unit, getting an aftermarket one is the cheaper route to get a full, clean, powerful signal to aftermarket amps.

Wouldn't make sense replacing an 8.4n because all all the built in functionality. Need to spend lots of money on digital processing equipment instead.

Yeah a new head unit is not going to do what the factory one does and you're going to lose something.

Greetings,

Totally correct.

The Mitsubishi designed uConnect 430 series is not a decent headunit. The Becker 730 series is somewhat better for an output signal. Both them do not even compare to the a low end aftermarket headunit. Sad to say at the current time, their is nothing to replace the newer uConnect for the 2014's and up.

Remember, in dealing with the factory Alpine premium system, it is Chrysler who handed out the specifications for the system. Alpine had to make an extreme generic settings and designs to for fill their contractual obligation.

If you are going to do 7.1 surround system right from scratch and depending on the level of sound quality, just in equipment alone you can be starting at $3,500.00. I can tell you that if I did not have any professional breaks, my custom system is well over 5K (don't even ask). My advantage, thru out the years I have dealt in home, professional audio and mobile audio. Thus is how I got those breaks. My installer I know of years and the store that I was associated with sent all of our installs to them. I am using 2 DSP to create the effect that I want. Dealing in professional audio give me that advantage in configuring the DSP. Once you get the basics down in crossover points and delays, which is not hard at all, the rest is a piece of cake.

Like member ANDOSKYY, small and gradual upgrades have been done by many here with great success. From just simply replacing key speakers has made impact. With the addition of a proper headunit brings it to a new stage.

It all boils down to how each of us hears the sound, because the next person will not hear the same way I hear.

Best for now.
