Blue screen and now touch screen doesn't work

Interesting event happened yesterday on my 730 RHR. Sitting at the light waiting for green, RHR screen flickers, then goes to a light Blue, SAT is still playing but can't see anything on the screen.

Get home restart the GC, screen is back to normal but now the touch doesn't work. Goes to the dealer tomorrow.

Re: Blue screen and now touch screen doesn't work

The first thing the dealer tech will try is a hard (power) reboot the 730N. You can possibly save yourself the trip and the time by trying this yourself.

( In case you don't know what I mean: )

In the TIPM under your hood is a 30A fuse, number M12, which monitors power to the radio/nav head unit and optional audio amplifier etc. Pull this and wait a few minutes before restoring it and testing the unit.

REF: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/misc/Fuses_2011_2012_wk.pdf

If you want to try disconnecting the battery, that is another sure route, but it will end up resetting all volatile memory in modules etc throughout the vehicle. Not a big deal, but a localized fuse-pull is less drastic.

Good luck!

Re: Blue screen and now touch screen doesn't work

Thanks guys. I should have included that I pulled the negative last evening. didn't correct it. All buttons on faceplate work and the steering wheel controls work. Just the touch screen.

Re: Blue screen and now touch screen doesn't work

We'll just got the call from the dealership. As suspected, they have ordered a new 730 RHR. Should be in mid next week.

This dealer has been awesome in the past, I haven't dealt with them in 20 years but they are still owned and operated by the same family and still operate under the same principles, service the customer and don't kick the can down the road. Clark Chrysler, Methuen MA.
