Bluetooth signal icon is sometimes red on 430N

I have '11 WK2 with 430N. Sometimes, when phone is present and Bluetooth on the phone is on, the icon that shows Bluetooth signal strength at the bottom of 430N shows up as red dashed line (instead of usual blue triangle). When I try to make a call it always gets connected and indicator becomes blue again.

What does red dashed line signify?

You may be on Wi-Fi. The red indicates the cellular signal is weak. If you have service in that area, try switching off Wi-Fi and you should be back to blue.

How can WiFi be related to this at all? If anything, it can be BlueTooth signal strength but the phone is right in the cup holder.

Re: Bluetooth signal icon is sometimes red on 430N

The blue/red indicator under the phone symbol is not Bluetooth strength. It is for cellular signal strength.

From the manual:
The status is given for network signal strength, phone battery strength, etc.

Now I feel really dumb Makes sense but I doubt it works as designed all the time. It looks like it is red fairly often when I am out and about in NYC where I would imagine AT&T has decent coverage everywhere outdoors.

Yeah...
I don't put much faith in the information provided on my 430N display about my cell phone...
The cell signal strength shows red a lot (even though I'm having a conversation) AND the battery strength shows red even when I still have 50% battery life left.

I'm just glad that I can initiate and receive phone calls hands free again after performing a factory reset on my Samsung S4 (damn thing started to randomly reboot).
