BREAKING NEWS - New uconnect update for MY13 & MY14

Wow. Just for sh!ts, I searched for an update last week for the first time in months and came up with no results. I'm going to download and attempt it tonight

Performed the update. Took about 15 minutes to install and reboot. Navigation seemed to calculate a route slightly quicker. I THINK they FINALLY fixed the issue where you need to "wake up" your equalizer. I shut it down twice to check but only for about 2 minutes each time. If I end up going out again tonight, I'll update to let you guys know if it is fixed after sitting for hours.

Weird. I downloaded mine. Put it on the USB. Plugged it in. All I got was a "cannot read media" error (or something similar).

Never had an issue updating in the past. Strange.

Haven't ever had that issue, but just make sure the stick is totally empty, except for the ISO file you downloaded.

I updated tonight; haven't noticed anything different yet. Found this on a Dodge forum that pertains to an update for '15s released yesterday also; don't know if this same change log pertains to the new 15.26.1 update for '13s & '14s or not:

"This update contains the following improvements and or additions:
-Improved Radio security protection to reduce the potential risk of unauthorized and unlawful access to vehicle systems (Applies to US market only)
-Enhanced performance in Navigation, AM/FM Sound Quality and Voice Recognition"

Man that sucks! So hard to understand why that is such a difficult thing to do. Our 2015 Cherokee retains the shuffle setting between restarts (of course it doesn't have the EQ issue either) so I know it can be done!

Guess I'll keep the RAX software installed until they update, no reason to rush if they only fixed one of my two pet peeves. :)

Yeah the EQ "wake up" is always my automatic next step after pushing the start button. My wife laughs at me and other passengers always ask. Used to be annoying but now it is so automatic to me. Just a bit embarrassing that there is no fix for it. I have driven several 300's for rentals and they never have the issue. Also, they show cool album art on the Sirius screen. Cool little feature that takes you back when you see the old Led Zepplin or Stone Temple Pilot cover art that reminds you of the "old days." :)

Still waiting on customtronix, but it kinda sux this new update doesn't give the theme option...

Did the update on my 2014 limited and audio still sounds bad IMO with tons of bass when playing the ipod and very little in XM. Haven't noticed much else except that the written warning that pops up on the screen when you start the car is about twice as long.

I did have the problem with the update not loading even when I formatted my flash drive to FAT32. Tried a few more times, then grabbed another flash drive and that one worked.

@Diesel - haven't noticed that one (thankfully) but might need to test it out to be sure. Don't know if it makes a difference but I have the 9 speaker stereo.

I'm going to try to install the uconnect update this weekend. My radio hasn't been updated since the car was built last year so I know it's a couple updates behind.

Milous, so is this security fix to also help prevent thieves from popping locks with those handheld devices you read about? or what is the main threat that they are focused on when they say "unlawful access to vehicle systems" If they are plugging security holes on the vehicle im surprised they didn't make this an RRT?

Also are the 2014 radios done concerning any functionality updates? in the year since the july 2014 update this update is just a security fix and few bugs fixes on repetitive song listings. are we baselined on the 2014s and probably not going to see any changes or are there potential updates coming that may make someone actually want to pay the $15 a month they want for the uconnect subscription? thanks!

That's great news milous. Thx for the info and addressing the 2014's have not been forgotten.

Hey, it supposedly fixes track names... I noticed the track information didn't match the song from time to time when using my iPod. I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the iPod (i.e. corruption) or Uconnect. If the problem goes away, then that is at least something... (grin)

So I updated the firmware last night on my 15 GC Altitude...and I haven't noticed anything (the Equalizer "wake" bug is still there)..but I did notice the sound quality seems a bit odd....not as crisp as I remember (I have the 9 speaker upgrade).

My question is...where can I download and revert back to the previous firmware?

Interesting article related to the last fix, if anyone is interested!

Hackers Remotely Kill a Jeep on the Highway—With Me in It | WIRED

I can't seem to download from the Uconnect update site this time. It's telling me my VIN is invalid, and I've typed it, cut and pasted it directly from my Chrysler Financial login page, had other people type it for me, I'm going insane. Tried every browser I have, turned off all blockers.

I had the same problem. Tried multiple browsers on multiple computers for multiple weeks. It was driving me crazy too!

Then I temporarily disabled my anti-virus (avast free) and everything worked immediately. I hope this helps for you.

I wonder if the immediate "fix" for 14.25.5 (that's the previous version- right)- was to immediately kill the remote web server for those radios. Around 7/17 my remote functions stopped working. All I get now is timeout errors even though i can see i have 3g service on the screen. (On occasion I also get the circle with the line through it for "do not" where the 3g symbol should be on the radio's screen.) From the link it says
And thanks to one vulnerable element, which Miller and Valasek won’t identify until their Black Hat talk, Uconnect’s cellular connection also lets anyone who knows the car’s IP address gain access from anywhere in the country.
and i also noticed from digging in the engineering menu that right now i show NO IP address. unsure if it used to do that. So looks like the immediate fix was to kill the vehicles internet until the new software is installed?

The EQ bug is in the EQ/amp/radio guts, not the uconnect. Another forum for Durango's has info (not sure if it's polite to post links to another forum). Dodge and the radio people are aware and working on a fix- it's not clear how the updated firmware will be delivered. Apparently they corrected it in the beats firmware.

also- i love how the hackers figured out how to update the firmware wirelessy over tghe net but FCA is too stupid....

If they weren't stuck in 1974 they could have just pushed this critical security update to every vehicle silently and then only people who never venture into sprint wireless territory would need to be contacted.

Also, honestly not sure how it's only a RR TSB and not a recall- i guess maybe killing the connection to the effected cars as above was the interim solution to avoid that need. But letting someone kills my brakes, steer the car, kill the tranny seems pretty much like something that requires recall....
