Can I eliminate the Center Channel

Looking to improve the image of the front stage and the center channel isnt needed and is garbage. Even with the upgraded replacement with an aftermarket 3.5". Question is will I lose my phone audio via bluetooth or is the phone call fed to all channels?

One of Brisbane's most respected car audio shops told me this morning it is not needed and suggested disconnecting it...

Thanks - i had a BitTen and set of JL C5's and it really jacks up the time alignment and makes it sound like stock. Now upgraded to the Hertz Mille's so they deserve all the attention I can give them.

What in the world is the purpose of adding a center channel? I know a lot if manufacturers do it. I am sure Alpine could have processed it properly and had it sound much better with out that stupid center channel.

Marketing!.. Alpine audio with 10000 speakers... Sounds impressive in the brochure.

That was exactly my thought. If you look at all the aftermarket high end car audio SQ systems none of them have speakers all over the place. It's quite comical. Dont get me wrong the stock system sounded decent once i got used to it but they really make things difficult for upgrades with all these channels.

Yeh.... That is it! Funny when the egg is being fried here and frozen over there. The humble egg has become some sort of weather yard stick....

Re: Can I eliminate the Center Channel

Greetings,

If you do not need the center channel speaker and it is not to your liking, you can eliminated it.

The problem that Alpine had with the center channel is quite simple, they had to follow the specifications that good old Chrysler gave them. Chrysler honestly believed they could match the HK systems with the Logic 7 using Alpine's Euphony surround sound matrix incorporated in the factory amp. It is interesting that Chrysler now in the Summit & SRT of JGC is using the HK and the Logic 7.

To achieve the center channel setup correctly, you need the front stage speakers properly matched. The goal is to create a wall of sound that you can hear the separation of the L & R channels. This is accomplished by the right speakers and the correct DSP units that give you the ability too fine tune.

Others have upgraded their center channel speaker only to a coaxial or a wide band full range and gave them the results they are looking for. Remember each person hears music and sound differently from the next person.

For those who really want to correct the premium Alpine Factory 7.1 surround sound system and bring it to the right level, you are going to have to spend $$$$.

Best for now.

Re: Can I eliminate the Center Channel

I should clarify that my conversation with my (car audio) dealer was in the context of only upgrading the speakers. As mentioned above, if you want to throw some money at it, it appears the centre channel can be put to work properly.
