Can I run a USB cable into the Cup Holder?

It seems to me that the elephant in the room inside the JGC WK2 is the fact there's nowhere neat to easily place the phone where it can charge. Infact, with the DVD player occupying the central console there's virtually nowehere!

I've seen a few aftermarket cup holder iphone adapters that charge the phone. I would like to use them but I simply hate seeing exposed cables in the cabin.

I don't have my car yet (delivery next week) but I'd like to know of anybody has done something like this. Thanks folks.

There is a compartment behind a flip up door at the bottom of the center stack which houses USB, SD & power connections. It is directly in front of the cup holders. I power my aux GPS from there, but I don't mind temporary exposed wires. nor use a phone You should be able to check out the set up at a dealers.

Re: Can I run a USB cable into the Cup Holder?

I bought one of those cupholder chargers for my phone. It plugs into the 12v plug to charge. The 12v in the console is always hot. The 12v @bottom of center stack behind flip up door is on only when ignition is on. Trying to find a flat cord so I can close the door while plugged in. Or i mightjust dremel it.

Thank you for your replies. I'll quiz the dealer or service team when it arrives. Yesterday I parted with the rest of the downpayment. I can hardly wait.

If you're talking about the armrest, there is a cutout on the passenger side of it. At least there is in mine.

Thanks, at least there's an option to use the power outlet in the armrest. I was hoping to use the USB in the centre stack.

Re: Can I run a USB cable into the Cup Holder?

You also have the option to use a phone mount so you leave your cup holders open for...cups. That's what I do in vehicles. I routed a cable from the phone mount into the center stack and have a 12v to USB adapter in the cubby to service that cable. There are no lose wires anywhere and my phone is visible when traveling for convenience, including managing media (I stream via Bluetooth) or hands-free calls.

This is my solution...some folks don't prefer it, but I happen to like it:

I put my phone right in the compartment in front of the shifter. Works great

That's cool. How did you get it to mirror what's on your phone to the HU?
