Wall Street will hit them on this and the stock will go down because of the failure to deliver on a new innovation for all the public to use. Beta versions and demos do not count in their eyes of the Wall Street Analysts.

From other sources that I have and posted in this thread indicate they are close. It seems by everybody's summarize, that hold could very will be in MAPS. Is Apple going to use the internal GPS antenna of the iPhone or piggy back the OEM or aftermarket antenna? This could be holding up the interface apps of the car manufactures and aftermarket HU folks.

The music apps already listed are a go. The third party apps is another story and Apple handles this very conservative. The SDK is supposed to finally out. As I have posted many times here, the key to all this is the acceptance of the 3rd party apps. For me it the Navi apps.

The other rumor that is floating is, are they going to eliminate any the cable and go to bluetooth or wifi connection. I am not too fond of this and I rather have a cable connection so that the music will have the best quality sound.

It will be easier for Pioneer and Alpine to launch than the car people when CarPlay is ready.

In any event, as said some weeks back in a post, I still have reserved reservations about this system until I see the full release. How does multitask with OEM. The 3rd Party Apps. At least I know my problems with dealing with Pioneer's Appradio. Apple is so secretive, you never know what to accept. Nobody predicted that they would have 64 bit chip in the phone. It actually helped my AppRadio apps.

So let's see what happens and for us IOS users, keep the faith.

Best for now.
Hey! It's never too late to come over to the Android side!

Re: Carplay

Greetings,

Just back from my wonderful 2150 mile round trip from NYC to St. Louis. To all you St. Louis JGC drivers, wonderful town. I felt like a kid again in City Museum. Yes, I took the Bud tour, the BeerMasters. Their is nothing like 16 minute old fresh beer from those mega kegs.

Hey, no CarPlay yet. Must talk to the IOS Masters before the dark side comes over. I hope SYGIC will be available as 3rd party Navi app. I was really impressed with new version for IOS. The Android update is due this fall.

Hopefully, September 9th we will have the update on when it be released.

Best for now.

Re: Carplay

I am just curious, will your next car choice depend on if it has car play or android auto?

I am biased towards Android and I am guessing I am going to be switching my BMW (going carplay) to something else like Audi (going android auto) when that lease is up. I am just wondering if I am in the minority, or if it is going to affect a lot of peoples decision on which car they go with.

Re: Carplay

I would NOT select a car based on iOS/Android support. I'm pro iOS, but the other aspects of the car are WAY WAY WAY more important to me than if it supports carplay or not. MAYBE if I were having a hard time picking between two vehicles it MIGHT tip the scales, but I've never had two cars be so close that it would matter.

It would influence my decision but probably not a deciding factor.

The issue is that it seems like you would have to switch phones to use the car system. According to the article above carplay will only support IOS and Android Auto will support everything but IOS.

I depend on my phone more than my car, again, I am probably in the minority. But I would rather switch cars than phones. That is if I am already buying a new car, I wouldn't randomly replace the car.

In all honesty car manufactures should put in hardware that would be able to dual boot both systems.

Re: Carplay

I forgot to add it will influence when I buy. I'm shopping for a new car now, but don't need one. Am ok waiting until next year to see if they add carplay.

Greetings,

IMHO, the vehicle's sound system and phone integration should never be the first factor in a purchase. It is important if the vehicle performs to your liking. My top priority when I was getting rid of my Pathfinder was how the 4x4 transfer case handles, I needed both the ability to do up to medium off roading and yet nice riding highway vehicle.

I knew that I was getting the wonderful Premium Alpine Surround Sound system that when I first heard might my ears go crazy. Not problem, I made my own adjustments. By next production year, many will have the ability to use both systems, if they ever come out.

For the record, I am an Apple smartphone user.

Best for now.
