No worries. I feel your pain as I have to wait 2 months (maybe more) on my factory-ordered vehicle too. When you dump a bunch of money into something like a new car you just want accurate, concrete answers and ETA's. I'm not in the automotive industry and I don't know why things cause slow downs and delays, but I just wish Jeep published or provided to the customer, or at least the dealer, better information such as the new 730n RHR nav radio.

Call that 800 number I put previously posted. Maybe you'll find out some new status on your vehicle. Have your VON and/or VIN number available if possible. Hang in there.

Re: Confused on current SW version on 730N RER

I was actually asking when the software update for RER systems would be coming out. 2.4 is supposed to be available this month.

Here's what happens with out-going calls:
1. Press the UConnect button on steering wheel and say "Dial xxxx (name)"
2. Phone begins the dialing process, sometimes completes, but often locks up.
3. Call shows "Connected" but can't hear party nor can they hear me.
4. Hang up and re-dial. Sometimes system redials number often I get message that Phone is not Connected and system locks up.
5. If I try and dial 2 to 3 more times, it will work, but never on the first try.

Here's what happens with in-coming calls:
1. Nav screen displays "Incoming Call" with no caller ID.
2. Press the UConnect phone button on steering wheel.
3. Nav screen displays Connected, but caller can't hear me nor can I hear them. iPhone locks up and doesn't allow me to take call on handset or speaker.
4. Hang up. Caller tries calling me again. Sometimes system will answer but often times not.

I've even tried pressing the Audio icon on the iPhone and bypassing the UConnect altogether, but I can't even hear caller on iPhone speaker or handset. If I wait a few seconds, the system sometimes transfers the call to car speakers and I can complete conversation.

I'm so tired of it sometimes working, that I deleted the iPhone from UConnect and went back to using the iPhone by itself. I'm hoping that a software fix will correct this NOW and not 6 months from now.

Re: Confused on current SW version on 730N RER

I read on an Apple forum that the v2.4 software will NOT address the iP4 issues. It will however fix the acquiring signal mess.

I don't see how it's an iPhone issue given that bluetooth works perfectly with my BMW and my Jawbone, just not with the Jeep. I can just see Chrysler blaming Apple and vice versa. Oh joy

Re: Confused on current SW version on 730N RER

The 2.4 update is supposed to come out soon but it will not address iPhone 4 issues.

Here is the current latest software (2.302) as an ISO download.

Here is my info:
Software
Application: 2.201
Gracenotes: 2057
Database: RS21-N 1004 3.3.3
SDS: 170901

Hardware
Serial #: T00BE323056315
System: 6816 009 3.8
OH by the way, your maps release is from the 4th week of 2010 which is obviously very current, Mine is early 2008 and even in this fairly remote area there is plenty of detail and no issues.

Gracenotes 2057 is the most current North America version, I use it currently with no problems.

Great. Here we go with Apple vs Chrysler. Thanks for the link to the Apple discussion thread.

OK, here's why. And all of this has been said before on other threads.

First, understand that Apple dinked with the implementation of Bluetooth on the iPhone 4. It isn't fully standard. When the iPhone 3 works fine and the 4 doesn't, guess what- it's a product issue.

Apple themselves has said they did this, and gave the information to the assorted manufacturers so they could make allowances for Apple's screwing around. When the maker of a device does this, guess what- it's a product issue. There's been reports of other BT devices not working with the iPhone 4 too, it isn't just the RER.

Now, also remember that the RER is pretty much an end of life unit. It was slated for replacement, so it isn't likely to be at the top of the list for software updates, especially when you're talking a single device model, albeit a popular one. Also remember that the iPhone 4 is the only model that seems to have across the board compatibility issues- Android phones don't have it, Blackberries don't have it, regular phones don't have it, heck, even earlier iPhone versions don't have it. That makes it an iPhone 4 issue, which lays it at Apple's door.

You may not like the fact that Harmon and Chrysler didn't revamp the software to play nice with the iPhone 4, and you'd have a point. But the only reason it is needed is because Apple doesn't bother implementing an industry standard in a normal manner, instead expecting the rest of the industry to make up for their own crapping around. Apple is notorious for doing this; otherwise, why would every single iPod accessory have to basically spell out the exact generations it will work with? Apple does it there too.

You may love your iPhones and other Apple products, and that's fine, but that doesn't mean everything is always everybody else's fault.
