Connectin Spy Tec GW1-C dash Cam

Hi there. I'm new here and just trying to navigate this site. I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. I purchased dash cam Spy Tec GW1-C. I want to hard wire this camera. Now, that's where my dilemma comes: does my car have an interior fuse box/port I can connect to. I am a little concer with going thru the fire wall to the main fuse panel. Any ideas?
All helpful answers would be greatly appreciated.
PS, bare in mind, I am not too savvy when it comes to electronics (I can build a skyscraper but have a problem connecting this one so the easiest way to connect would be the best way.

I have wired mine to the cigarette socket wiring via a secondary smaller fuse and a 5v dc converter. Others have located a 12v power source in the rear view mirror (somewhere else in this site).

Try the Pink-Yellow wire (Run power)

Don't forget - dash cams run at 5V. You need to put the DC convertor somewhere.

Re: Connectin Spy Tec GW1-C dash Cam

I just got my 2017 Overland. Looking to install a Blackvue 650. I'd like to pull constant(unswitched)12V from the mirror or overhead console. From what I've heard/seen the power in the mirror is switched. Anyone know of a 12V tap in the center overhead console? It seems the overhead lights are available when the vehicle is off? Could it be tapped there?
