What are the stock speakers rated at anyway?
That's exactly why I'd pick the MS-8 also. It would be nice to power a center channel, and properly align it. It would also be good enough for rear fill. I'd replace all the stock speakers if using it. JBL says 20Wx8 @ 4 ohms, and 30x8 @ 2 ohms. I highly doubt the OE Alpine amp puts out that much RMS. If it does, it sure isn't clean. The power & ground on the OE amp look to be about 14 ga at best. 500+watts my ass!

Re: Consensus audio solution?

LOL. 14awg?! They probably took the speaker ratings, added them up and came up with that number and said if it can do all those speakers, that must be the rating. Im joking, of course. They do still run some speakers from the amp and others from the radio, right?

Is there a fuse on the amp? You can work out the actual watts it puts out from that with a little math.

Re: Consensus audio solution?

I finally got a chance to hear the HK 19 Speaker system in a SRT today and can say that I'm glad I didn't order mine with it. Not to disparage those that like it but it is what the GC should have as standard. My wife, who is used to the stock actual 13 speaker Pioneer system (no coax) in my '09 Lexus and not knowing which system I ordered, asked me if I was getting the HK system in my SRT with an almost sneer of her face. I told her no but if I wanted to it would cost me more. She was glad I was doing it myself and was shocked that a car at this price, $90k for most, didn't have a better stereo.

She was impressed with the rest of the car except for the chrome Goliath rims and the fact that our time with the Lexus is almost up.
