Curious Question: No HDD, but for Nav? SSD?

So I was reading 2014 and later models have no more hard drive. Is this just a point of reference that the hard drive isn't accessible for users to load their music in or is there really no hard drive any longer? In this case, how are the maps and head unit files stored then? SSD?

I'm hoping the answer is an SSD because I've had my old Dodge Journey hard drive fail on me and the whole head unit had to be replaced. I was thinking the hard drive couldn't handle the music activity and had to give in over time.

So not having a hard drive completely is a welcome change.

I believe they use flash storage.

(ie a SSD or Solid State Drive). This is my understanding as well.

That would be awesome if confirmed. Longer life in the head unit.
