Has anyone tried loading custom POIs into the Garmn nav in a 430N (RHB) media center? I followed the instructions in the radio book exactly but have had no success. The Garmin POI Loader (from the Garmin web site) works as it is supposed to for creating the poi.gpi file. I know the file is good because I have successfully loaded it into my Garmin nuvi 660. However, when I burn the file to a disc and load it into the 430N in my Grand Cherokee Limited, the disc reads and then the screen displays "PND Updated Failed" and the custom POIs do not load. I have a query into both Garmin and Jeep customer service but no responses yet. Just curious to see if any other owners have tried this.

Shamus, see post #28 in this thread. I chose POI Factory for my speed camera/red light camera custom POIs and they work great. Sometimes I'll get a false positive when the speed camera is facing the other direction but it's still good to get the heads up. Worth the $5 I paid, IMO.

Yep, they work like an independent layer on your map regardless of whether or not you have a destination plugged in.

It's been awhile since I did this, but as I recall you put all of your custom POI files (typically these are .csv or .gpx files) in the same folder on your computer then run the Garmin POILoader software on that folder. It integrates all your custom POI files into the single .poi file that is then loaded into the Garmin device. File naming is therefore not a problem. I think the detailed instructions for generating the file are on Garmin's web site: http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/

I just dropped my GPX file into my POI folder and created a new GPI file as described, and it loaded into my 430N fine.

I first renamed the GPX file to "Favs", and it's now in my POI's in the FAVS folder.

Like the previous poster said, just click on the POI and select SAVE, and it saves them to your Favorites.

I then reprocessed my POI files without the GPX file and dumpped that into the 430N (erasing the original FAVS folder)
