Mmm. I did call twice this week. Maybe they wanted to tell me something so I wouldn't call back. I didn't realize they even knew how to track the number of calls made to them (most of them don't have a clue).

Re: D1....Getting new 730N RHR in my Summit!!!

I was at my dealer in denver colorado yesterday. I looked at a new summit overland that came in that had the 430n. I told him I was only interested in the 730n rhr. They spent some time on the phone and had to leave one of the managers at the production level a message and wait for a call back. The salesman told me that they received a call back and they were told that there was a shortage of availability for the 730n rhr and it would not go into production for another 3 months at least. Maybe this was a sales tactic to get me to buy the one with the 430n??

Does anyone know if the 730n rhr will drop right in to replace the 430n seamlessly without any other parts or programing?

Would a dealer swap out the 430n in the summit for a 730n they had in another car on the lot and adjust the invoices?

I may decide to get the 430n now and upgrade later assuming there is some sort of resale market for the 430n. And who knows it sounds like the 430n is having problems being compatible and doing everything its suppose to do with out a glitch. what if all these cool features that the RHR is alleged to have do not work right? Could be one of the reasons its in shortage. Why potentially wait months to get a radio that may not even work right when your buying the car for the car.

Re: D1....Getting new 730N RHR in my Summit!!!

There have been shortages of them if you read through the threads. They are supposedly starting production with the 730's on March 1. All of us that have ordered the summit are waiting for this as we speak.

Re: D1....Getting new 730N RHR in my Summit!!!

So I called again today...talked to Lisa.

She said my order is "gateline status ready to proceed on the line...is currently being built....it is in production and being built now....you should get it in 12-14 weeks but you may get it earlier...." I attempted a dialogue and she insisted that it is currently being built and I should get it in 12-14 from now.

A completely worthless call and absolutely no help whatsoever...fun times.

I was at the same dealer (I think) last night (Centennial on Arapahoe Rd), and they gave me essentially the same story. They have four more Summits coming (black, brown, white gold & mineral gray) and they told me that they all are coming with the 430N, not the 730N.

I am not sure if it is worth the wait or not -
The Garmin graphics are not great, but coming from no nav at all it probably will be just fine. It sounds like the connection with a iPhone 3G would not be a problem. I like the charging USB port in the center console - not sure why they would eliminate this connection for the 730N??

I am waiting to see Rugged Brown in person before ordering a Summitt - maybe by then the 430N/730N issue will be moot...

The 730N RHR has no USB connection in the center console?

reading it from here...730N - RER upgrade to 730N - RHR

I hope that this is wrong, as eliminating the port makes no sense...

It's sort of wrong. What it means is the dedicated iPod port on the RER has been replaced with a generic USB port on the RHR. iPod connectivity is now supported through this USB port just like on the RHB (430N). I don't think anyone knows if that USB port will be in the console or armrest.

Sounds like the same useless woman I spoke to this week. Next time I call, if a female rep answers, I will insist on a male one!

My dealer told me "I have been with Chrysler for 18 yrs and know that the factory has rarely given me a straight answer". He said not to bother with the hot line and as soon as he sees it in a D1 status he will provide me with better estimates of delivery.

Re: D1....Getting new 730N RHR in my Summit!!!

There you go. Make that stealer earn their money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If that timeframe is right, folks who ordered even in January as some of you did, that is dangerously close to six months the way they are going. Hopefully, that is a stalling tactic to keep some folks from calling in which actually is a waste of time.

Heck, you can order more exotic vehicles and make it under that time. That is a long time to wait for a domestic vehicle. It had better be worth it as some of you who have received yours have said. I wonder how many folks who are on the waiting list now, would have ordered knowing that?

Re: D1....Getting new 730N RHR in my Summit!!!

I know for kicks I called my dealer today. They are extremely nice but I laughed when they said "I am gate line which means its built and ready to go but no delivery date posted"....I was like OH REALY? I told him yeah I will see him in May when they deliver it.....lol
Im going to add that they also said mine was being built in Ohio. Anyone heard of any being built in Ohio yet?
