Angry Did they swap my radio?

OK, my GC has been back to the dealer twice to have the radio replaced because the on face USB port was ripped out of it.
Since they put a hole in my seat replacing the heater pads (and claimed they didn't) I have gotten into the habit of taking pictures of whatever area they are going to work on before she goes in for service, literally minutes before so there can be no argument with the time stamp on the pictures.

This last time, they told me that they ordered the cover for the USB jack by mistake instead of the whole radio, so they gave her back to me while we wait for the radio.

Now comes the interesting part:

I know the truck has the RHR radio, the picture I took shows RHR on the face of the radio, scuffed, but clearly legible as RHR.

The build sheet shows:

QXRS Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat
RC3S 9 Amplified Speakers w/Subwoofer
RDBS Removable Short Mast Antenna
RDZP Steering Wheel Mounted Audio Ctrls
RFDP 506 Watt Amplifier
RFHP 6.5" Touchscreen Display
RHR Uconnect 730N
RSCS SIRIUS Satellite Radio
RSMP SiriusXM Travel Link
RSPP Uconnect Voice Command w/Bluetooth
RSSP SiriusXM Traffic
RSUP Audio Jack Input for Mobile Devices
RSXP Remote USB Port

I got her back last Friday, went for a ride over the weekend, and while waiting to pick up my daughter from work today was playing around with the settings.
And noticed the radio model NOW says RER!!!! WTH!!!

It seems to be the same radio, the USB port is still busted, and the system info page shows the same serial number, VIN, Sirius radio ID, etc.

YET I HAVE AN EARLIER PICTURE SHOWING RHR!

They told me when I picked her up last Friday that they needed to scan the radio to be sure they ordered the right model, could they have changed serial numbers, etc on another broken radio and put it in my truck?

This makes no sense to me, but the the RER lettering is clearer than the original, and the build sheet and my earlier pictures clearly show RHR.

I bought the truck used, and the 30 day bumper to bumper ends tomorrow.

As soon as I can tomorrow, I will get the pics off my iphone and post them.

Any of you see or hear of this before? Opinions?

Re: Did they swap my radio?

Never seen this before but I just did a quick look and looks like they gave you the old (RER) radio that was discontinued fall 2010 to replace your new version (RHR) radio that became available Jan 2011....hmm, likely 99.99% same feature/funtionality but obviously the RHR is technically improved in some way to warrant the RER to RHR part # migration.

Re: Did they swap my radio?

Same family; different versions. You got the earlier, "old" version with your swap. Not what's supposed to happen. You may want to contact user JeepCares here to get their help with this dealer.

Re: Did they swap my radio?

Called them this morning to see what radio they had ordered, said they had to check and would get back to me.
I told the girl it should be a 730N RHR not the RER model that is in the truck right now.

She asked what I meant, and I told her I have pictures from before it went in for service and a build sheet that both show the truck came with a RHR version of the radio.

Still haven't heard back, have a hunch someone is correcting a part order.

Re: Did they swap my radio?

OK, third times a charm, or so they say.
I'm heading in now for the "correct" replacement.
We'll see, I've printed out all the pertinent information (radio replacement instructions, differences between RHR and RER, how to get an unlock code, the build sheet) and the original pictures showing the RHR radio.
Hopefully all will be good.

Re: Did they swap my radio?

OK, so third time WAS a charm! New radio has latest version and Grace Notes.
Now trying to find out about the Map database, mine is Navteq database N 12 14 4.3.1.
Does anyone know how that relates to the software on the NavTeq site?
I asked their tech, and he no idea what the version number meant.
He told me to call Jeep about what the latest version number is.
Do any of you with a newer RHR have a different database number?

Re: Did they swap my radio?

Latest firmware should be 2.60. (likely the last firmware, too)

Map updates have to come from HERE and they cost $149. The last one I bought was not quite a year ago; released in about June 2015 or so.

Re: Did they swap my radio?

Jim, I got that part, what I'm trying to figure out is if I need to buy the update.
Thats why I posted the NavTeq database number, if you go to the Nav screen menus you can check the DB number.
The tech at NavTeq told me the latest was in 2015, but this radio seems to be brand new, not a refurb, so since it has the latest firmware and Gracenotes version, I'm trying to find out if it has the latest maps as well.
Does that make sense?

It looks like the latest version is 2015-2016 5.21 compiled 9/15 but I have no idea how to read your DB version syntax, it's not as straightforward as the current 8.4AN.....I cannot imagine that FCA is installing current map databases in replacement radios since they are pre-loaded at factory or by radio supplier and everyone wants our $149 for the updates....here is the current CD to order Jim referred to....

Chrysler Group | Chrysler | CHRYSLER GROUP – 2016 NORTH AMERICAN MAP FOR UCONNECT® 730N (RHR) | HERE

EDIT:

My guess on how to read your DB version is N for North America, 12 14 for Dec 14 and 4.31 as the compile number....if this is correct then the one above is 9 months or so newer and my "doubt they update" comment is wrong???
