Re: Did your Uconnect 8.4N problems start after registering?

There is a problem with the 8.4N System. Screen freezes, steering and touch screen controls become in-opt. Navigation slow to download on start up. Does not respond sometimes at all to voice commands. Other times it takes two or three tries to connect a call. I understand Jeep was aware but released it anyway.
Dealer has a re-boot but I don't have time to take it in for service. I also believe it is affecting ATC as it can't read the exterior temp correctly. I am very unhappy with this system as I use this vehicle as a work office.

Re: Did your Uconnect 8.4N problems start after registering?

Glad I saw this first before doing the registration, the gf just got the 2014 today and I was about to register but she was in her garage (not sure if that had anything to do with it) but kept being unable to connect, and glad it didn't after having read this! Will wait to see if there is an update to fix before and see what everyones feed back is about it! Glad i cought that one! I wonder if you can unregister or deactivate it to fix it? until there is a firmware update?

You can remove the veh from a Uconnect account but, there is no way to know that doing so will remove all or any of the bad software that seems to be causing major problems. At this point I don't think I could trust any information from Uconnect customer care?!

1. From your vehicle’s radio touch-screen, select the
Uconnect® Store from the Apps icon.
2. Select My apps, then Settings, and then Remove
Uconnect® Account.
3. Enter your Uconnect® Security PIN, select “Proceed to
Remove Vehicle from Uconnect Account”.

By not registering you can't remote start your car that's about it everything still works satellite etc so like you I'm waiting because once uconnects computers start talking to your cars head unit,it's downhill from there.

Yeah I don't think she's too worried about that, it stays in the garage, and when hopefully the problem will be resolved before the real GA heat comes and can do it from inside her office before leaving work!

Garage
I've had my UConnected registered for sometime now and just started to have a few issues. The other day it went black but was able to function everything from the steering wheel controls. Then today it restarted 3 times after I muted the sound. The 1st reboot was quick, the. Rebooted again. This time everything came up like it was brand new, time said 12:00 and nothing was programmed. It then restarted again and it was back to normal. Not sure if I should take it in or what..

Re: Did your Uconnect 8.4N problems start after registering?

Good info posted above!

Question: when UConnect does an update "...in a few weeks." will it automatically d'load to our 8.4AN units, or do we have to do some finding/d'loading/installing on our own?

Re: Did your Uconnect 8.4N problems start after registering?

I registered right after picking up the GC and problems started right away. Same as many above: nav freezes, steering wheel and unit controls inoperable, screen blanks and then reboots - sometimes multiple times. I don't want to bring it in until I know that there's a fix.

The Advanced Tech features also have failed to work at times. Blind spot monitoring stopped, adaptive cruise control was unavailable even though regular cruise was OK. And Quadralift can't seem to make up its mind whether to lower automatically a few minutes after the engine is stopped (which I liked). Now it's hit or miss, usually miss.

Yesterday, I wanted to see if the A/C went on with remote start. Up until then, the Uconnect app worked, even though the unit did not always. But instead of the page on my iPhone showing remote start & stop, remote lock & unlock, etc., I just got a page that said "Uconnect" and options for calling roadside assistance and customer service and the like. I called Uconnect service and the person with whom I spoke said that she thought the app was interfering with the operation of the unit. So that's some confirmation of what others are saying.

Re: Did your Uconnect 8.4N problems start after registering?

I registered Uconnect the day I picked up my Jeep (April 13). I'm closing in on 1,000 miles, and so far, the only glitch I've experienced is the phone numbers I've added to my cell won't update in the 8.4AN unit. I'm knocking on wood, but everything else is working fine. No problems with the screen, the steering wheel controls, the nav (other than some routing preferences I wish were different), or anything else. I use a dumb flip-phone w/bluetooth, and it stays connected. I don't have the updated software that has been discussed. I'm not sure, but it seems a lot of people with problems are using iPhones. Could it be a major compatibility issue with the phones? I don't want to start any arguments here, and because of their prevalence, Chrysler should be working with Apple to solve any problems with iPhone compatibility, but I don't use any Apple products. That's not because I don't think they're great products. But, over the years, it seems to me Apple products just don't play well with other brands. Like I said, I'm not trying to start anything here, just saying this might be a compatibility issue which needs to be ironed out.

Yes I did have problems after registering and I have had problems yesterday - which coincided with new apps (for music) showing up in the APP section.

Re: Did your Uconnect 8.4N problems start after registering?

I registered my Uconnect a couple days after i got the jeep. It's almost a month and i have not had any of the issues mentioned above (knock on wood!). I notice some lag when i'm going to quickly into different settings, i've been spoiled with iOS on my iphone being so smooth.

Re: Did your Uconnect 8.4N problems start after registering?

Does the key fob have the remote starter button like my 2011 has or is it now only available through the app? I live in Arizona so its a vital function. Thanks
