Re: Do Not Try This at Home

What was the model of the original sound system and was it that bad?

Thanks,

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

Here are some pictures of my stereo install.

Alpine head unit with nav and blue tooth
Focal KRX2 fronts (no pictures as we mounted them in the stock space w/ grill)
JL Sub with Stealth Box
2 ARC amps
Stinger interconnects and power cables.\

Install was much tougher than originally thought. It took over 20 hours to run all cables and mount the amps. The front door panels were no picnic!

The sound is quite incredible and i am happy to be rid of the old OEM system.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures.....cell phone

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

No issues yet!
When we made the amp racks, we used peg board on the back side hoping to allow some air flow.

Only have had it for a week installed and i am keeping an eye on the amps.

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

Moose or Kawak, did they run the amps to the battery or to under the hood?

Moose, they used a line level to tap into the channels in-order to get a signal to the new amp powering the sub and front doors?

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

we ran power to a fuse block inside the battery compartment under the passenger seat and then to the battery. Ran the cables under the carpet and trim to the spare storage area and amps

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

Nicely done kwak, +rep. Jorde, amp wired same with fuse to battery. Amp and line out junction box mounted under rear seats, plenty of room there. Still waiting to see your tinted tails, eh?

Thanks for that info. Did you tap into the stock amp's line out for the new amp's input?

Yes Rad, this allows the same my gig head unit functions for front/rear/left/right/center speaker controls and equalizer, though center satellite and rear pillar speakers are not much of a factor anymore. The upgraded amp power to the new speakers and sub steal the sonic show now.

Cool, thanks. I may have to go this route as well.
