Re: Do Not Try This at Home

67 nice ride! BTW I also have the stealthbox and a 5 channel JBL hd 900/5 under my rear passenger seat. No issues folding it down for me.. Amp is relatively small in size for the power it puts out. Also wait on the stealthbox for JBL if you have an overland. I have a prototype which I need to send back and I assume it will be the new mold for the stealthbox. If you don't have an overland then go ahead and order a stealthbox, as you won't have this module which was in the way with the original stealthbox so its been modified to fit without having to move the module.

Thanks. I'm going to pull the Alpine amps from my Montero Sport this week and see if they will fit under the rear seats folded down or under the front seats. The amps are a few years old, but really solid and I'd hate to have to replace them simply because of size.

I haven't ordered the Stealthbox yet, but I have a Laredo so fit shouldn't be a problem.

I had a Kicker 750.1 and it was just way to big to fit so I upgraded to the JL hd 900/5 as mentioned. It also gives me the option to do doors if I ever decide to do so but I dont think I will mess with the doors, sounds good enough for me.

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

How many channels did you end up using for the front speakers? Did the front door speakers and tweeters all use different channels (so 4 channels) or are the door speakers and tweeters wired together for R/L (2 channels)?

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

Thanks for the reply J13ntv - Does anyone know if the 2 rear surrounds in the Jeep are just crossovers from the rear passenger door speakers?

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

Most people I believe use components for the front doors, thus you have crossovers mounted in the door or somewhere else. Two channels run from the amp to the R/L and then the crossover splits it to the tweeters/mid range

The rear surrounds are separate channels, as is everything in the vehicle from the factory amp. So in-order to get a full range signal you need a line converter with a minimum of six channels. Then you can blend the tweeters, mid range and rear doors thus getting a full range signal output to your new amp via RCA's.

Check out this link for the wk2 wiring schematics.

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

Moose,

Three questions. 1) What shop did you go to to get your system installed? 2) What was the bill? 3) How much better does it sound even though you are still using the stock head unit?

Thanks,
Jcroll1ns

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

with the LC6i in between the stock amp and aftermarket amp, how is the DSP timing between all the speakers and sub? Does anything sound off or ahead? My biggest fear with doing this on my wk2 is throwing off the timing from the factory amp (my setup is PDX v9, Focal IS 165 components, Focal IC 165 rear doors, Audiocontrol LC7i, and stealthbox)

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

I plan on using everything you have listed as well (But I will be going with JBL speakers)

I am just trying to decide between the LC6i and LC7i. The Alpine amp has the bass control knob I plan on using for the sub level, so thats one less thing I need from the LC7i but I feel like the sub eq might make it worth if if I am running the JL stealth box

The LC7i feature is bass restoration. It's restored the bass, read up on it. That's why I got that between the stock p and new PDX.

Re: Do Not Try This at Home

Good Call.

Do you have any plans to upgrade your center speaker or the ones in the back hatch pillars?
