Does Siri work (over BT) on the 2014?

Sorry in advance if this has already been covered. I did a search but couldn't find it.

Does Siri (on an iphone 5 running latest iOS) work over Bluetooth on the new 2014 models? Specifically the 8.4AN nav unit?

I was pretty disappointed to find that the 430n in my 2013 doesn't support Siri or any text/email notifications.

I've been kicking around the idea of trading for a 2014 hemi, and was hoping someone could save me from having to go to the dealer and test it myself.

Thanks

Yes, but the "VR" button only activates the built-in voice recognition of the Uconnect.

To use Siri you need to (a) pair the uconnect to the iphone, (b) hold the home button on the iphone to activate siri, and (c) ask siri your question...

A couple notes
1. Siri use on uconnect looks like a phonecall (the phone screen pops up on the uconnect and starts counting the time like it is a phone call)
2. Siri is slower than usual through the bluetooth connection (i think this has to do with ambient noise in the car while driving making Siri "listen" for longer than you are speaking)
3. Siri does not integrate to the uconnect NAV or any other features, it simply does what you ask of it on the iphone
> I have successfully called people over bluetooth and have started playing a playlist over bluetooth audio

I would think this arrangement would work in your current vehicle as well with the 430n, as there is nothing Siri specific about the pairing to the uconnect, as it functioning only as a speakerphone set up in this use case.

Good luck.

Do you know if it reads text messages through UConnect?

only to the extent that siri already does... its just an audio and microphone connection via bluetooth that allows the phone to interact with you like wearing a headset effectively.

Also, uconnect has its own features that are siri-like (like phone dialing, texting and nav entry), but it doesnt seem to work as well as siri from a speed and understanding of my somewhat average american accent.

Well that is good news, thank you.

Couple more questions: can you listen to your voicemail over BT? Do you receive any kind of audible notification for voicemail or email?

These are all things that the 430n simply can not do. Somehow the head unit just doesn't recognize Siri or voicemail as a phone call. The issue is pretty well documented, apparently it did work on the 2011 models for a short while, but then a subsequent software update (which was necessary to fix other bluetooth issues) killed Siri.

Siri worked in my prior car, and I kind of got used to it for things like making calls or finding the closest coffee/bank/whatever. The built in voice command system for the 430n is absolutely terrible, it makes me want to get out and walk.

Re: Does Siri work (over BT) on the 2014?

Haven't tried the voicemail, but given that siri works, my guess would be yes... but the little visual vm buttons would be on the iphone.

The 2014 is awesome. Can't go wrong... would recommend trying the v6 too the new tranny out of eco mode or in sport can really haul ass from a passing on the highway and windy country roads perspective.

I have the same question. I'm in the 2014 Wrangler Unlimited, whenever my IOS connects via bluetooth, I can't seem to use Siri. I push the button, but no indication that its picking up my voice. What gives?
